  1. Are you sure about the weight of your jeep? Our standard MB weighs just over 1 ton. Greetz David
  2. I found some more nice pics from last year: Source: http://www.military-vehicle-photos.com/ I think there is a good chance most of these vehicles (and many others) will be present again coming event! Greetz David
  3. A few weeks ago I saw this exact same story somewhere else, but it was placed somewhere in the US and the soldiers concerned were US Marines.... It is a a nice tale though... Greetz David
  4. Thanks for the reply! I think I have read somewhere that G13's also have a floor escape hatch? I too find the owner is free to restore it as he sees fit without further comments, it will be nice to see it running again regardless of the livery it will sport! I had a few rides in the Crompton Collection's original Hetzer last year; great fun if you can stick your head out the hatch but very noisy and uncomfortable inside! Greetz David
  5. What exactly are all the differences between a 38(t) Hetzer and a G13? Greetz David
  6. Hiding under a coat of OD? :-D Greetz David
  7. To wet your appetite a bit more, these are some pics of last years' event: Source: http://www.achterhoeksmuseum1940-1945.nl Greetz David
  8. I think that Horch in the pic with Rommel was restored by Mike Gibb a few years ago and is part of The Weald Foundation's (formerly SDKFZ Foundation) collection? Greetz David
  9. Then go! Easyjet flies on Amsterdam Schiphol, and from there it is about 2 hours by train... Greetz David
  10. During this event there will also be a militaria market during both days, and not just on the Sunday like last year. The museum has added a special page on this event to their website, where more information will be published over time: http://libertypark.nl/militracks/ Greetz David
  11. http://wiki.g503.com/index.php/GPW_Judging_Standards Here you can find the MVPA GPW Judging Standard; it has loads of information on what is and what is not correct or original on a GPW from a certain period. Greetz David
  12. Some parts of the old (and now defunct) website were saved here: http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.sdkfz.com Greetz David

  14. We have modified the black-out area of the rear lights as mentioned above, and for the front we have mounted a small light on the inside of the fenders, see pics below. Hope that helps a bit. :-D Greetz David
  15. Unfortunately, since being recovered a lot of parts reportedly have been removed to be 'restored' and seem to have vanished. The vehicle itself has been stored outside and has since deteriorated quite a bit. It really is a shame, it was a time capsule and should have been left as found in a proper storage area. http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/showthread.php?t=267988&highlight=stug+recovered The will is there, but the knowledge and funding can't keep up it seems... :embarrassed: That said, I am sure a lot of treasures are waiting to be discovered. Greetz David
  16. That is correct, and the blue line around indicates how deep they should be pushed under water. :-D Greetz David

    Snow..

I took these photo's last friday in The Hague, The Netherlands: Since then about 10 cm / 4 inches more snow has fallen. Greetz  David
  18. Hi Ashley, we'll see if we can find it then next time! :-D Greetz David
  19. Is that the one located in that side street across the Branbridges Road petrol station (near the roundabout)? Greetz David
  20. It translates to 'Porton resistance movement/group'. Perhaps it was used in wargames or something? Greetz David
  21. Hi all, the 'Militracks' German Vehicle Show will be held again on May 14 & 15, 2011 at the Liberty Park Museum in Overloon, The Netherlands (about 40 km under Nijmegen). This event will feature a selection of original WW2 German vehicles in restored, fully operational condition that will drive around the off-road course that is specially set out in the museum park. The course during the past edition was about 1.5 km long, but it will be lenghtened for the 2011 event. There are already talks to get some extremely rare vehicles to the show. Everything is still in the planning stages, so there is no fixed program at the moment. Visitors will again get the opportunity to purchase a ticket for a ride around the course in a vehicle of their choice (if available) though. Last event all participating vehicles did that, and it was great fun for public and owners alike! Participation is on invitation only, but all visitors are welcome of course! They already have a good selection of Type 166's, 82's, motorcycles and Kettenkrads, but if you have a special vehicle that you think would be something for this show drop me a line and I'll see if something can be arranged. I'm not in the organization but I do know them. The museum offers good facilities for participating vehicles. For an impression of the past event just do a search on 'militracks' on youtube, or look here: http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?18674-Militracks-Overloon&highlight=militracks I will post updates when they become available, at this moment it is still 7 months away...:-D Greetz David
  22. No, it is just a maker mark for the manufacturer of the metal parts. Greetz David
  23. Well, unfortunately this example just needed too much work. It would make a nice restoration project, but I need a vehicle that can be used daily. The search continues... Greetz :-) David
  24. Unexpected: another LHD 109 Series III (1977) with closed hardtop is offered for sale now less than 5 miles from where my father works, so he will have a look today on the way home, with the checklist in hand. The seller states it has rust on the outriggers, a leaking wheel brake cilinder, rusted brake line, and some other small things. The MOT just expired 10 days ago and that makes me a bit suspicious, with the timing of it being offered for sale. Price is less than half of the other 109. I don't mind some work, but I don't need a restoration project. For some pics see http://www.autoscout24.nl/Details.aspx?id=bso4ee231qqr (no, that is not the actual price). I think it also is ex-military. I'll hear more about it tonight I think. LHD Series III's aren't really rare here, but you don't find them on any streetcorner either. If I would be sensible I would forget about a landi anyway and go for something Japanese... :nut: Greetz :-D David
  25. I have found a local parts supplier and made some calculations on the cost of the brake repair. Does this type have a 'power brake pump' (not sure what the correct name is)? I didn't check if it has. Based on the costs expected we may make an offer. I will also be looking for other vehciles though. Thanks for all the advice! :-) Greetz David
