  1. Hi Guy Pm sent with four pics. I hope they are of some help. I got it wrong, you are quite right about the passengers seat. Best Jerry
  2. Hi Guy The drivers seat is not right. I'll take mine out and send you a photo if you can pm me your e-mail address. The base has been built up it appears, which may mean you will be looking at the windscreen frame when you're driving. You need to sit low to see out when driving in a C4! The passenger seat in mine is a standard framed seat, like the drivers. It never had the early cushion on the back bulkhead and there is no sign of their ever being one fitted to the bulkhead. As I recall your C4 is a late mark 2 with the extended wheelbase. Thanks for your help putting me in touch with Tobin, he's helped me out. Best Jerry
  3. Hi Mike Another Cs8 owner has come to my rescue, with one wheel nut in the post. All my C4 wheel nuts are steel and have corroded over the years, 4off x right hand thread are passed their sell by date and 3off x left hand thread are similarly poor. If you can spare seven let me know by pm with what money you want for them and p&p and hopefully we can go from their. Jerry
  4. Still need left hand thread wheel nut. Please check out your odds and sods tin. Jerry
  5. I need one or ideally two left hand thread wheel nuts for my C4. Please pm if you've got one for sale or know of a source. Jerry.
  6. Adrian Thank you for a most interesting afternoon, interesting conversations with one and all. Great stuff - thanks again. Here's to a superb 2016. Best Jerry
  7. Hi Adrian Have you got room for another? What need I bring? Best Jerry
  8. I received a prompt & helpful response from Spire and I have completed the return successfully. Not the easiest format of documentation, but it's done! Jerry
  9. Ron I cannot recall my ID to 'log in' with so cannot pass go! I've asked them to send me my details from four years back, I'll be surprised if they do. Back at time of application IMPS provided a very helpful 'how to apply' guideline. The whole application process is full to the brim with gobblygook and so it seems with this next requirement, necessary to fill in a 'nil' return! Jerry
  10. My 1943 Chevrolet CMP C8a HUW has exactly the same layout, although I haven't a clue if it's right or not. Jerry
  11. Hello Mark The FB60 is an entirely different animal to the B60 and the B range family. It was designed at much the same time as the R-R L engine (V8) used in the Silver Cloud 11 onwards. Responsibility for spares distribution was through BMC (British Motor Corp) which eventually became the now defunct Rover. R-R Crewe did hold a few residual spares, but these were disposed of around 1990. I have such an engine in my barn and it's a runner. As you'd expect they're a long lasting engine and were somewhat wasted in the VDP Princess 4 litre R. Best Jerry Hill
  12. A white noise generator to blank out extreme noise? Jerry
  13. It's a Wasserman Tester. Ho Ho Ho Jerry
  14. I'd add to your list. Replace engine lube oil & filters with new and likewise for transmission. Jerry
  15. Mash Thanks for that he'll be the very person - many thanks Jerry
  16. Well done Martin, Paul, Graham and the lady who does dancing lessons, the GMVG proved again they are a wizard group and a wonderful time was had by all. The number of Guernseymen and women who came up and said thank you for coming was very kind. I think the good folk of Guernsey enjoyed it almost as much as we did. Well done Guernsey. Does anyone have the link to the chap who was on the camp site who photographed everything? Jerry
  17. Well done, lovely job. Just a little observation, your fan belt looks tight. The manual says something like you should be able to hold the belt together between the top & bottom pulleys and have a gap of one and a quarter inches or thereabouts. Just check the manual to be sure. It seems awfully slack but that's right. Keep up the good work. Jerry
  18. A layout for dormitory quarters, positioning marked out for bunks, is my best guestimate. Jerry
  19. R-R used to totally immerse B & K range grey iron c/case castings in paint and bake the c/case before machining. I recall the process was called S O, no idea what it stood for. The main purpose was to safely seal any residual casting sand in place. It was very effective, nothing seemed to remove the paint, which was a sort of silvery colour. For your c/case, assuming it's clean, do nothing other than use traditional Bluecol antifreeze at a 50/50% mix, as it contains adequate inhibitors that will prevent further corrosion. If you're determined to paint the internal coolant c/case area then you'll need a bath full of appropriate paint or a specialist contractor, both won't come cheap! If the MCC engine is rusty internally I'd check if it has a water tube running in the c/case from the water pump distributing coolant to each exhaust valve. Nasty things, a sort of zinc plated tin tube and very important to keep the exhaust valves cool on a side valve engine. Good luck. Jerry
  20. Trevor It's already pretty snug in the cab, when you get the mangle fitted, where will I go? PM me if you're serious. Best Jerry
  21. Hi Richard A couple of pics from the C4 manual, not v good at adding pics, I hope they're legible. Jerry
  22. Hello Richard. My C4 no longer has the compressor fitted, it was removed by two owners back I believe. The base section of the compressor transfer drive case remains with a flat plate fitted where the vertical gang of gears was fitted. I think you're quite right about box mentioned here. Jerry PS I thought the radio vehicle (gin palace) had the drive to the radio generator off the side of the gearbox in a similar set up to the tyre air compressor.
  23. Thanks for that, I just listened to it, what a man. I saw him deliver a lecture to the Martlesham Aviation Society two or three years ago, an amazing example to us all. Jerry
