Erm, I think 4000psi of water jet, not ideal but the new paintwork has come up pretty smooth so everything lose has been removed I think.

Hi All Just got these pics sent to me from Dave at Dinscott who is doing my Saracen, thought they might be of interest to some. Basically, its a repaint and change of belts. Actually went down on saturday to see the nearly finished article, looks really good and I want to take it home now, but, patience is a virtue. Will have some finished pics to post later. I did a quick search but couldn't find this covered on the forum, although I'm sure it has been somewhere. My new saracen has mil reg. unknown. Would the DVLA have a record of it from when first registered? Also, I looked at the slip of paper in the engine compartment, no number here apart from base overhaul in 1976 and engine serial number. Could it be traced from this? Last question, where is the id plate hidden on a saracen just in case we have missed it. Thanks Paul

I use two magnets out of an old disc drive to hold my civvy plate onto my ferret, not let me down yet.

Hi Jack My uncle is going to be there, he was a crewman on a sherman with the Lothians and Border Horse Regiment. He fought through North Africa and then up through Italy. Later he was in Europe in a "Honey Tank", a turretless stuart in which he did recce work, becoming troop leader. This he attributes to the low survival rate in this role, he had a reputation for leading a charmed life. He ended up driving Staghounds but saw no action in these. Adrian is going to re-acquint him with his sherman. Hi All Before I take delivery of the new beastie the generator and fan belts need to be changed. Does anyone have an idea of what needs to be done here. In the manuel it says refer to REME, not a good sign. Has anyone had to do this themselves, can you get in around the rad? Thanks Paul

At last I've done the brakes, a bit fiddly here and there, in fact a real pain, but all is working, the brakes even bled themselves which suprised me. Now the leak in the transmission box which I'm thinking will be easier. It was just good to get a job done even though its been waiting for 6 months or so, roll on summer:) Cheers Paul

Couldn't get the file to work. I do agree though, what goes on inside is easily as interesting as outside shots, often the problem with the MV mags as well, not enough interior photos.

Mine is exactly the same, same stowage/table fittings, but hasn't got animal in it. Also, the batteries have been moved to under the bench seat at the rear. Do you find the partition behind the radios gets in he way, mine has been removed but is included in the sale. Fair play, I've been looking at some photos of your saracen at the pageant, she looks great, really nice finish. But, maybe one for stupid question part of forum, what are the extensions on the roof for? The one on the back is for the penthouse extension, but were there other canvass extensions for the sides as well, or are they just to store more stuff on the roof with? I'm limiting myself to three questions at a time before I bore other saracen owners off the forum. Thanks for your help Paul
