  1. Thanks, I think you've covered everything there quite nicely!!
  2. Right, it may already be on here but I couldn't find it spelt out in the searches I did. Could a fellow ferreteer please confirm the below for me please as all my notes seem to have gone walkabout engine uses sae 30 gearbox, ? transfer box ? brakes use dot4 hubs use sae 30 bevel boxs ? Then we can put this one to bed Thanks Paul
  3. Right, I'm getting to get one................. as soon as you send me the money or convince the missus who says I have to finish my other projects first.
  4. You can't put me off OILY, I still want a saracen I'm going to replace the whole pipe, after looking down past the engine I can just about reach the fitting. Then, drain the transmission, take the end off and re ghasket it, put it all back together, paint everything in sight while it is still in sight, put back all interior fittings after painting them and hey presto, might be able to go for a drive and test the electronic ignition at last. However, an easy job compared to yours I think Cheers Paul
  5. Great video, and good to see me, me wife me mate and me ferret at 4.30 mins. Just off to our first show at Cobbaton that day. Keep up the good work!! Paul
  6. Found that on ebay, I'll give them a call, thanks Clive. Its probably just as well that I've stripped everything out of the interior to get to this leak as I've found a slight oil leak in the transmission as well, I was thinking I would open it up and some instant ghasket would do the trick here? I've just fitted electronic ignition but the brakes gave out immediately so havn't had a chance to even get out of 1st gear yet. Engine sounds alot better though. Is there a scientific reason why as soon as you've fixed one thing, another goes wrong? Paul
  7. I had assumed that I couldn't get the the rear section of pipe with the engine in place, but, I'll have a closer look now Thanks Paul
  8. If I could do the whole length then I could get away with using the existing fittings, possibly..........
  9. Hi All I've found a leak in the 8mm copper brake pipe that runs along the hull bottom. Problem is it is right under the transfer box. Anyway, it means I have to join a new piece of pipe in there. Everyone seems to do 8mm copper pipe (actually it isn't imperial but just about 8mm, with 6mm interior diameter) but not the joiners. I've got a small flaring tool which will get in there but not much good if there arn't any fittings. Has anyone used fittings with olives on their brakes? Would that be reliable when you step on the brakes in an emergency? Thanks for any tips or suggested sources of parts. Paul
  10. Wasn't this Jersey saracen sold on ebay a few months ago for about £107.00? Where did it go?
  11. I wouldn't mind one either. Looks rather good I think in a non subtle way.
  12. What a great feeling knowing thats its yours and its in the country, lots of fun to come I think ;-)
  13. Thanks for the heads up Jonathon, you may have saved alot of other people a similar heartache. As for that T55 on milweb/ebay if only it came 18 months later, I would be very interested in that one. Just spent lots of money at work and can't afford anything at the moment.......... :-( Paul
  14. Sorry but you are wasting your time here. :-( I was proud to start Ferret: Intention Long Term Health In fact I have campaigned long and hard for FILTH on this forum but got nowhere. They even delete my posts about it
  15. Its also a good idea to remember that you have fitted a bren on your mark 1/2 for the show you have gone to. This summer I gave myself a nicely bloodshot eye while getting out of the drivors hatch and turning to see the end of the barrel a mm before it hit. Moments later the ferret commander hit his head on the butt of the bren. Very effective weapon at close range the bren. Paul
  16. What are ferrets like to drive?? I read that they are like driving a 4 ton go kart and I suppose mine is very much like that if you are not using the removable windscreen ahh....... the wind in your hair, the looks on the faces of oncoming drivers as you race past............. Basically its very noisy, not very comfortable, you really need goggles and ear protection/ an intercom helmet, but just the best fun especially on warm dry days. Cold weather and rain arn't so much fun but you still get out feeling exhilerated. When I've had a bad day I commute home in mine and everything is alright with the world. Its even quite fast for armour, and with the open hatches it definately seems fast! Visibility is good, although you have to get used to leaning over to the side and looking out of a separate hatch to see the mirrors. When you get to a junction you just stick your head out of the front hatch and you can see both ways. Lets not mention reversing, although the ferret is built to go backwards as fast as forwards the visibility doesn't back this up. Highly recommended to all. Cross country is even better. Paul
  17. Oh no. this is getting worse! I'm going backwards here, not only do I have to get radios but my Bren is wrong as well........... and the gun mount therefore............ I don't think a gp-remortgage time-mg is going to be an option though, although I think they sell brownings fairly cheap at Helston Gunsmiths. Ah well, the bren stays for a while, a 353 clansman goes on the shopping list along with a stirling or sten plus mags for the drivers left stowage. Paul
  18. Hi All, I've renovated it to a newly painted fairly good nick era, thats all so far. The only things that date it are possibly the aerial mounts and also the bren. I like the different configurations of clansman stuff picture in this topic, and prefer the price of clansman to larkspur. I particularly like the finishing touch of the sten gun in 00ec25's photos, so should I have larkspur to match these accessories? Paul
  19. We need videos of the unveiling, nothing beats the feeling of seeing your new MV for the first time, especially when you have been waiting a long time. Lucker b****r, jealousy issues R us. Paul
  20. Do you think they talk to each other or could you say well, I've been offered the same tank for £xxx's less elsewhere???
  21. Thanks for your help guys. So Sirhc, the mounting fits across the top of what I would call the tray and the clansman bolts to that? Also, thanks for the photos Safariswing, they are exactly what I am aiming for, it looks really "finished". However, I am wondering what the green box is on the near side of your radio, underneath the grenade box?? Cheers Paul
  22. I see the t34 on milweb is being sold by mortar investments and also richard moore, both at once, how does that work then??
  23. Hi all My ferret has an empty tray in the rear of the fighting compartment where a radio should be, but, my question is..... what radio should be there? I think there is the possibility of larkspur or clansman but which individual sets are they? Thanks Paul PS I already have a clansman intercom system.
  24. I agree, Keep looking though they are worth the wait Paul
  25. I think spending money on big armoured toys is one thing, but sending money off to unknowns in eastern europe in the hope of getting some service is worth thinking about first. Would be interested to know if anyone has had dealings with them and how they got on. The SU-100 is out my my particular bracket though, but one can dream.............. and plan......... and then dream
