  1. The ferret we got a complete running discovery tdi took engine and box out, The ferret had a gearbox problem . So when it came out it was an easy choice. the main mod is the props to the transfer box have been swoped front to rear giving more room for the engine and box ,The original tranfser has been mashined and a bearing fitted to the front. a small prop joins both, 300tdi auto ferret B60 125bhp ,300tdi 122bhp lets forget torque as the diesel if far more everywhere .rpm is near as dam it the same. exept the tdi wont miss and pop. The plus point is all you have to do is steer,,,,, and fuel will be near 35% better if offroad it could run on red and that would be even cheaper to run.
  2. Yes were on our fourth one.. stolly cummins 180bhp diesel saracen jaguar 4.2 auto ferret landrover 300 tdi auto near done saladin bedford 500 auto I also talked an owner of a leyland hippo now cummins power,,,,,!! (phil) There is something to be said for original but if any petrol motor today would be a diesel as the ones we have done, The saracen was a project to see if it were possible.
  3. Good example of drifting Phill ,,, I did a little myself ,, but yes speed by some was a bit mutch,, Next year is already on the map.... lets get it on!!!!!!! Great first show!
  4. This thread has a point. Question ,,,,,, What is the avarage age of a MV owner ,,,,,, 55ish ?? older ?? I think i maybe a younger one at 40 younger than me is few and far between. Are we going to get to a point where there is not enough to take the hobby on 1000s of jeeps all mint put back in barns?? No one intrested in buying a tank,,, The whole hobby may crash and values nose dive as older owners stop. No young no hope! Does the mv movment understand
  5. Not mutch of a workshop,,,,,, no cups teabags kettle,,, sorry this is a place for parking not working .Maybe a little bit of TLC and it would be perfect,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,lol though has lots and lots of good points.. I have been where al mentions and been in 6inches of mud grinding the valantine myself ,We could have done with that shop.
  6. I have two ideas 1, put the fear of god into people hearing the coming........ 2. More probable is if 50 set off and only 8 made it to the battlefield is would sound the same ,,,just to hide there numbers and how many brake down, SOUND GREAT THOUGH!!
  7. One more point If there were another world war..... for example iran as a start or if there were a takeover in pakistan... and it went off world wide. Where would the british get there kit?? I am sure M/A/N would not put us first what do you think......what about everything else??
  8. OW ww11 stuff well was a ruby7 and a jeep something there? i hate jeeps myself but were they a copy of some old british car?? but 4wd or chassis something... i was told this could be wrong. Land rover took up where jeeps left off. Ok till 1982 they all did this leaf thing but then land rover went coil... JEEP owners will say well a jeep can go where a landrover can. Yes with axle difflocks Landrover keeps the axles on the ground far better than anyother 4x4 std load of axle movement. The other point is tyres if all things ar equal i would put my money on a landrover. CHASSIS ROT! Yes thats why they build new ones and keep 1000s in work with all the aftermarket mods chassis diffs cages ete etc i just bought discs and pads f/r £68 Have you ever heard the term BENCHMARK! Thats a landrover Yes engines were crap till the 200tdi 300 great motor td5 reasonable,,, transit engine good. v8 well sounds good at least. Love them hate them If we look world wide the toyota landcruiser is very used in australia and in deserts wonder why???
  9. Yes anything green grey or blue sand or berlin cammo all welcome. 1066 to 2010,,,, sorry no cowboys so ill stay at home lolollollollololl pmpl but all welcome next year as this
  10. good idea, move it round . It will inspire different groups and there will be followers who will travel.
  11. Hi john If you remember i found one in scotland fv437 pathfinder, As yet i dont think it has been mentioned. It seems to have a dozer type blade on the front fitted with a winch and in the rear there is no rear door just a flat back and at the botton two jet drives. I do have some pics on my old pc but its u/s i will have to get the mashine looked at ,But it must be the only one left. 12. My friend has a shoreland with twin tanks he had the same problem. he cut up a small pice of leather and its working for 3 years so far.
  13. I just went on to you tube and found a vidio of my drops loading a cvrt.... gives you an idea of the show in the background
  14. I am sure one more would have been apreciated... cvrt jeep land rover mt350 , anyone would be welcome and we would be happy to see more of everything next year. saying that there was only one ferret
  15. trying ti sort some pics out, It is very good to hear there is alot of intrest, so we hope next year will be bigger and batter.....! pics to follow
  16. Its good to see people are intrested . I agree it was not pushed mutch .I dont think it was as big as it will be next year a whole year to talk and punt it . The way forward a major midlands show to replace cosby?? great weekend over the bankholiday. Detling is the same weekend but its 150mile south toofar for many .Hope people up north will try it as an alternative. Again 100% to the show
  17. I think about 5 to 6 ft of water for a stolly to float allowing for suspention drop say 6 ft would be fine.
  18. We went to this new event on request from grumpy ,, As we have had a small fallout with the mvt birmingham west mids branch as it seems post 1945 does not matter to them. So we went along to support grumpy who has helped get it off the ground. Well as we arrived (2 beford gs and foden drops and foden limber)it was a sight to see cvrts everywhere as i didn't really count but 35 of them at least. For a first show loads of tracked armour fv432 from dave king who also bought some of his go-cart tanks(fun),Alvis Saladin from john B.(my old one)restored to its glory.......!!! part restored cvrt scorpions sabre .. petrol and diesel tatty to mint.... just outstanding effort! The tank battle the put on was just unreal for a first try 100%, the field the battle took place in is like a Roman Amphitheatre theatre, raised at the side the field being 15 football pitches in size or maybe more. With a small lake(pond). I wish i took a video. When a scorpion fired a round at enemy position missed and hit the lake a massive splash 80ft high just great lol. Done so well and timing was spot on. As for the mvt em Well a bit of a poor turnout on the whole. As the alvis lads did so much i think the mvt let the side down a bit. I went into the arena several times in the drops did a few things but not much else went on. The arena was to be done by the mvt. em em. To be fair grumpy did a a1 job with the pa system and sorted the dj ran around trying to sort things but was let down by low turnout. The chairman was well out of his depth with all this post war things a land rover who made them???? fodenium no foden this is not roman. He tried his best commentating but again lack of things going on in the arena didn't help him at all. He tried his best and did make up alot in the post war owners eyes .I am told he may even go to Beltring(no steam trains lol)to have a look The turnout was great for first show 85 items mainly post war but very nice pieces from the 40s a royal navy truck a austin ,, a dodge in us navy grey looked great all in a1 condition. A few jeeps a hippo albion gun tractor and many more. I would like to thank all those who put it on and the people who took along there kit great first show. Where it is with these people it could be as big as the cosby victory show.... or even a midlands w&p ???? This is a must see show and we all will be back next year , The show was open to the public who came in good numbers and seemed to enjoy it greatly. The MVT built bridges so we will see Thanks everyone.... you know who you are.................!
  19. Hi all I took the foden drops, I must sau very friendly and what a stunning location perfect place, Next year i will be going for a long weekend if i am invited back. Many thanks to the cotswold mvt
  20. I have not seen a foden recovery at a show as yet is there any on the show seen?? I am sure my fordn drops is the only one at the mo joe has one any more? drops or recovery??
  21. I will say from comments made thing have been hilighted position for launch we went up and down the medway and couldnt find a better place as someone else has launched a stolly from there we went with it. The boat slip is 4 miles away.?? How would a stolly cross the rhine?? cet lol wouldnt they break down lol and still be on a drawing board somewhere 1960s??? People who have been to the rhine will know how big a river it is and quite fast flow in many places but there are places you could just drive out .Swimming across would be real fun and dangerous. Overwidth trucks ye bad boys, stgo cat3 as my foden is.. i ran it solo to beltring.... I see people say winch ropes wont cut limbs off em,, not sure i agree what about the pully block or shackles flying with it em,, I this instance nick put on 25ton shackles alont the line to stop whip. The rope that broke (HEP ROPE)i agree should never been used should have been skiped years ago, that i would say was the balls up using it. Old steve g was a lucky chap i dont think he was in danger of death but who knows what could have happend to him. I have had a jive at some but i think we all learn from this we will do it again for sure but a little different so those who have shouted and put adverse comments i would say have made a point and that what a forum is for so please dont stop. This thread could save a life! I am glad there are people who do post there concern. I am also glad there are people who do he do as well. there would be no comments exept for them.... For sure we will post the next episode ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,!!!
  22. I must say you seem to know alot about things breaking and people geting hurt, were they balls ups? were you involved. I hope not it would be pot kettle black sort of thing well i dont think i can say black now , pot calling the kettle a little off side....???
