  1. I can feel an order coming in the not-too-distant future!! Algae on Stalwarts seems endemic plus the roof of my car also has it's fair share (previous owner put it away for the winter with a wet hood stowed in the down position!! :? )
  2. Sounds like the answer to a lot of MV owners prayers if the data sheet info on this is to be believed:
  3. If I am - then at 6' tall and 22 stone in weight it'll be the first time since the eighties that I've been smaller than someone Going to be an interesting experiment trying your's for size though!!!!
  4. Been doing a bit of digging -well , OK, googling - on this 'cos it intrigued me and turned up this: http://www.dft.gov.uk/stellent/groups/dft_rdsafety/documents/page/dft_rdsafety_611257.hcsp This is the official Department for Transport site and has all the info on the new regs that come into effect from Sept. this year. Hope it helps answer the questions!!
  5. Must admit to being partial to the Saladin as #2 to the Stalwart - but given my build I doubt I'd fit in one
  6. Thanks Chris - will let you know when/if I get her. Know it's a case of "wishing the life away" - but I do wish it was the end of April so's the budget figures were in and I had the thumbs up from SWMBO to go borrow the £££'s..........
  7. Thanks John - I suspect a return visit to the cab of a Stollie might be in the offing in the not-too-distant future Not sure what the speedo is right now - or why it's not working even... There's a fair chance the head might be OK and it's the take off from one of the front bevel boxes thats up the creek!!! Hopefully in a month or so's time we'll be able to have a good look and find out
  8. What happened to the poor old Ferret this time??? Same issue as the last Coalhouse weekend or something new??? Kevins not having much luck this year is he???
  9. So's the Mk 2 Stalwart - got a nice little heater unit in the cab - provided the last one in remembers to close the hatches!! Mind you - leave the handbrake on and I believe even the Mk 1 can get a nice warm cab after a while  (ps - spot on about my vote Mick!!)
  10. I hope not Jack otherwise Neils been sold a pup (no bonnet on a Stolly ) Good looking machine Neil lets hope the finances go through quickly for you. Best of luck mate Might not be a bonnet - but there's a hefty lump of cargo deck that won't do me any favours if it ges dropped on the old (literally!!) noggin whilst engaged in the depths of the trusty old B81!! Luckily though the mechanicals should all be sorted by the time money changes hands - only fault was a leaky clutch and the owner is fixing it as he'd already ordered the parts. Speedo is non-op and that IS a job to do but otherwise all there is are some relatively minor cosmetic works to do around the inside of the roof hatches and the rear drop-gate.
  11. It's a very, very nice machine Richard - now to pray the home finance figures work out the way I hope at the end of the month so that we can then progress to hoping that the loan request goes through OK!!!!! Damn good job that "hope springs eternal" according to the old adage
  12. It is Do you recognise the area and/or vehicle Mark???
  13. Wish I could have made it  Sounds like a great time was had by all!!!
  14. As most I think know - we went "shopping" last weekend for the object of my desire - a Mk 2 Stalwart. Well - if we meet our financial targets at the end of this month this is the beastie that will be mine by the mid to end of May - those eagle eye ones who were at Coalhouse Fort the other weekend mught just recognize the driver!!: What do you think for £6,000 folks (load bed cover is in the load bay together with the IVJL and there is a full clansman intercom installation)??????
  15. Dunno about the shoe size - but normally on drum brakes there is either a cam or a screw on the back plate that lets you "wind" the shoes back in!!
  16. In all honesty - I've absolutely no idea!!! Never studied Ferret prices as I've been fixed on Stalwarts I rather liked it - but the wife would kill me if I even expressed an interest - esp. if she saw the Bren!!!
  17. If the screen colour looks like reality but what comes out of the printer is different then it might also pay to check the ink levels in the printer and, if possible the colour balance, LexMark for example give you a test routine that prints off a page and you then determine visually which colour setting looks right on a number of samples and enter the appropriate value - this then sets the pinter colour balance for the current ink cartridge. Can you do this on the printer you have??
  18. Mk1/2 Ferret up for grabs on eBay tonight if any one is interested: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Military-Armoured-Army-Ferret-Mk-1-2_W0QQitemZ4629021041QQcategoryZ122307QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Currently sitting at £21 - but the reserve is set at £5,250. In the markings of the Ghurka's as of 1974 - price includes Larkspur installation and Bren Mk 2........... Neil.
  19. Very impressive - look forwards to seeing it for real one day!!
  20. Alas - I'm away the next two weekends  Of to Weston Super Mare to take our existing caravan back to the dealers ready for hand over next weekend. Then after collecting the new van we're off to Wales - ostensibly to try it out but I suspect the wife is trying to lay some rather unpleasant ghosts dating back around 30 years!! Hope you all have a good time !!!!
  21. You forgot the "authentic" mud 'n muck that should be liberally distributed over the outer surface!!!!
  22. Back in my day UN forces comprised units from National forces in their normal kit but with the blue beret and either a badge on the shoulder OR UN armbands. Seem to recall that the armbands were being replaced by the sewn-on patches as I left???
  23. Could always make it a purple triangle!!! Be rather appropriate for me
  24. Sounds like a good idea to me! Might be good to have one for personal wear for those attending without vehicles?????
