Shame about the headlamps though!

As to what you are "seeing" at Withams versus what are they receiving is another matter. I think that there is every chance that diesel CVRTs have gone through there but have been scrapped without being offered for sale as they are so shagged as to make them worth more for scrap than all the aggro of a sale.
Doesn't look like there was much wrong with these!

What you need is an image map, you can make areas of the image a hotspot. Most HTML editors should let you do it.

A 12 way cable from one box to the other and the power cable are all you need for this.

Richard,
I copied that text out of EMER Power S579 Mod Instr no 15... I don't know what it means either!

The engine data plate should say something like J60 Mk100 or Mk101, A or B. The Mk100 was linered, the Mk101 slotted. A was for CVRW, B was for CVRT.

I've not updated this for a while, so thought it would be time for some new photos. I've been a bit busy recently, so progress has been slow. All the bins for the outside are blasted, some are painted, others will wait till it warms up a bit. A lot of internal bits are also cleaned and painted, but we had one big problem to overcome...
When we got the vehicle we knew the fuel tank was full, when pushing it onto the low loader a load came out the tank breather. It turned out to be mostly water, with some fuel sat on top. To get it running and driving we were using a jerry can connected straight to the filter, but before we can paint the floor and put it back together we had the small problem of the fuel tank to sort out.
I managed to find a decent submersible pump on ebay for £30 so figured it would be worth a shot, with some clear fuel hose and a 220L drum we were able to empty what was in there in about 20 mins. Opening the apature revealed a big mess...
This seems to have been caused by the water corroding the pickup pipe and fuel sender unit. Both are U/S and need to be replaced. The pickup pipe I found lying in the sludge at the bottom!
The tank was left overnight, which caused most of the water to freeze and could be easily scooped out and the sludge hoovered up. You can see a bit of ice in this photo! The tank needs another hoover after it's dried, by which time I hope to have repaired the pickup pipe.
The next job is to paint the floor, I started in the drivers compartment, some etch primer and some white bilge paint makes quite a difference. The whole floor and sides of the hull will get 2 coats before reassembly.
In addition to this I finally found a gunners site, so this vehicle is now complete parts wise. I still need another one though if anyone sees one about!

I already had the Marine Clean and just bought the sealant. You'll need to get the tank really clean and fill any large holes first. But yes it works really well. The MW tank I did had sat outside since the 70s with the cap off. I stripped all the paint off the outside, made sure the inside was clean and very dry, then used the sealant on it and it's been fine. Same with the M151 tank. The sealant forms a layer on the inside providing you keep it rotating and ensure it covers everywhere.

Richard,
Frosts auto restoration do a kit to clean and re-seal a fuel tank. I've done an MW tank and an M151 tank and both were perfect afterwards. http://Http://www.frost.co.uk

I think it was done at base overhaul, all of ours have extra armour, one even has a lot of round plates on the bottom. My Sabre has an extra plate welded on just above the track.

Wasn't it Preston Issacs who had a batch of Stainless ones made??
Maybe, but mine was made by a local company back in 2002 I think.

Why make it out of mild steel and not stainless? I've had a sainless one on mine for years with no issues.

Steve,
Those scrap CVRTs are long gone I'm afraid!

I thought if it wasn't built with them it didn't need them?

You should ignore the BBA number, that looks like it was put on much later and isn't a correct registration number. If you peel off that sticker with BBA on it you will find the actual hull number, it should date the vehicle to 1958. From the rear hatches I can tell it's a Mk 2/4, I've seen a lot of Mk 2/4s with CA registrations so I believe this is the correct number.

Not Canadian with those light towers on the wings, but could be ex-BATUS.

There aren't too many about though these days, I think most have been cut up. There's pretty much nothing that you can't get for a Spartan, so even an incomplete vehicle or one with poor tracks etc might be worth buying at the right price.
