  1. John, Sammy at A+S made a replica, there are photos on his website. Chris
  2. The Stalwart speedo is the same as the Fox/CVRT. I have some NOS ones in the box, if you need one. Chris
  3. Mark, Richard Banister will be your best bet, and if he doesn't have them then I don't know where to look. Unfortunatley they are 9cvw items and so not common to any other vehicle. Chris
  4. Mark, This varies depending on the type of round. I have the book here, If I remember I'll scan the pages, unless someone else gets there first. Chris
  5. The paint always makes you feel like you're getting somewhere with a project. Looking good! Chris
  6. MOT exemption depends on vehicle type as well as date of manufacture, since some vehicles are not testable. Vehicles built before January 1973 are Tax exempt. When changing the chassis, for example on a Land Rover, the vehicle would still be tax and MOT exempt, it does not need re-registering. What is a normal wheeled MV? Chris
  7. The animal is called a Gerboa, otherwise known as a Desert Rat.
  8. This is mine, hull # 2072. Those Sterling brackets sold like hot cakes! Chris
  9. You may have bought a Sterling mount from me, my Mk 1/1 is not an early one though! Chris
  10. I imagine they must have used 2 sets of tracks to make it long enough to go over the top like that? Pity about the Cent, but there seem to be more Cent recovery vehicles knocking about than any other variant. Chris
  11. Looks like it. I remember the Beltring one had Centurion Hush Puppy tracks on it too. Chris
  12. Square hatches mean early vehicles built as straight Mk 1 or Mk 2, usually with BA registrations. Chris
  13. Neil, I am fully aware of the windup problems with the Fv600 series. My friend has a Saladin and a Saracen, he drives them once a year from Derby to Dorset, and has done for 10 years. He is not afraid of working on them, both require a lot of servicing and repair before and after the journey. It is possible to drive your Stalwart anywhere you like, providing you look after it properly. Incidently Ferrets also suffer from windup. I take mine over the grass at motorway service stations on long journeys. Chris
  14. Changing CVRT track isn't too much bother. It's not that heavy (in relative terms.) We have had our Spartan up on stands with all the wheels and track off in order to spray everything. Track isn't the biggest problem, roadwheels seem to be more of a concern. They deteriorate with age. We fitted a brand new one and after 23 miles the rubber came off completely and overtook us going down a hill. Trick is to have plenty of spares of both wheels and tracks! Chris
  15. I agree with Mark. The army drove them, that's what they were built for. I know from experience that if they're not driven you end up with more problems. My Ferret hasn't been used properly for a while and everything is now empty of oil as the seals have dried out. When it was out on the roads all the time it never had any problems. If you tried to low loader your vehicle to every show you would never go to any. They aren't cheap at all to hire, even more expensive to buy and keep. If the vehicle has wheels drive it! If it has tracks then that is a little bit different, but still possible over short distances. Always try to go on long journeys with at least one other vehicle, especially when you're proving a restoration or a major repair. I have driven my Ferret all through the night before with no problems. It wasn't too tiring either, the cold air gave me a few more mpg and kept me awake! Chris
  16. You can just about fit an FV622 in that space.. Chris
  17. Lee, Not looked at the Fox for a while, been very busy. Hopefully I'll have some time over the easter holidays to get the insides back together and put some paint on it, weather permitting! Chris
  18. Lee, That's a different system to the one in the Fox, however it does work on the same principle. When I was looking for an electronic ignition module for the Fox they were of no help. I know someone who has since been quoted a huge ammount for a replacement module. I found a brand new one on ebay for £5 Chris
  19. sirhc

    Head torches.

Paul, I use a Petzl myo 5, but not the belt version. It is excellent, but like you say a bit expensive! Chris
  20. sirhc

    Head torches.

Jack, Yes, they're very useful. Get a good one with LEDs as they use less power and last longer. Chris
  21. Larry, It'd be a long time before you were ready to get it on the road. If I bought a Flakpanzer 38(T) from a farmer I'd be more worried about how I was going to get it home, along with where I was going to buy the spares and money from! Chris
  22. That is a lever arm damper. I've got similar ones on the Spartan: I do know of a specialist who can rebuild them, in Birmingham, but when I had one that was broken it was cheaper to find a new one. Chris
  23. Neil, The first box was a remote combining box, and the second item is a bit of a rip off! You should be able to buy the boxes for less than £20 each, you only need 3, and the cables aren't expensive either. I suggest you buy a vehicle before worrying about this topic! Chris
  24. You will need: - Interconnecting Box 3 radio (or 2 radio) - 2 x Crew Box 2 set - Power Lead - Long enough 12 way cables - Headsets, pressels, handsets etc It's dead easy, you could buy this at any show, or on ebay. Hope this helps, Chris
