IF you have to reregister this in the UK. & DVLA refuse to accept the French Rego Documents'. The MVT & Also IMPS have verification Officers. & for a small fee will provide an official statement letter. That would help with a UK registration.

Having Worked on RARDEN myself in Service. I have to say, that is a VERY Good representation of One! If it had been me making that. I would fit springs behind the Block for access flap closure. So you could open the access flap. To fit a Gas Firing Simulator in there! Bring the Gun to life! It certainly would get the crowds attention when in the Arena! 😁 Well Done!

Paul, as the situation stands. I am of the Opinion that you will have to play the long Game! Once open & up & running. ENSURE You Keep a Log, & a visitors book ( Hard Evidence ) of the footfall of visitor numbers. The more you have come through the gate. Over a year or so, this WILL strengthen your argument for an established museum. & Worthy of Categorizing it as such. This with Promotional facilities, will spread the word. & bring in more visitors & money to the area. When you are opening, Also ENSURE the press are informed. This will advertise & promote the Museum. & bring it to the attention of a much larger audience. 😉 local radio advertising it will also help! 👍

I searched for some images of an example for you Alan. But couldn't locate any. They have Hebrew makings in three locations. Stamped on the side, so the user would know what position to adjust the mount to. The adjuster was a 'T' handle under spring Pressure. You pulled the handle out, & rotated the cradle to the desired position. & released the handle to lock the cradle in position. For the desired gun to be mounted. very simple, rugged. & like most things Israeli. Well thought out!

There were a few Israeli cradles floating about at one time. I call them a Multi Mount. They will accept: a .30" Cal MG, A .50" Cal HMG & a MAG58 / GPMG. And also had an attached Ammo Box Holder. It would be FAR easier to acquire one of these. & modify to fit the vehicle weapon mounting socket I would suggest.

I highly doubt it. The mounting point holes are in a vastly different position, for each weapon.

Vitek was the plastic wire & barbs that I used. I removed the barbs, & hot glued them onto Metal, twin twisted wire. You need MALABLE galvanised wire in twin twist form. I have a LOAD of the Vitek Barbs left for sale if you need any?

Yes I understand. However, i feel when a family donate a particular item. I an certain they do so think that it will be on display in the Museum for everyone to view / enjoy. They certainly wouldnt expect it to be disposed of I would surmise? I met a curator at Bovington a few years ago. Who had resigned from his job, due to the above statement. he was particularly angry over the medals that the Museum was getting rid of. In my opinion, if you have hundreds of the same type of medal. that would make sense. Museums are always fund raising to keep them going of course. But a Medal is a personal object, & I feel it only right. That the Donat's family should be contacted as to the disposal of such am item. & At least offered it's return. & if not required by the Family. THEN disposed of. Call it a Moral Obligation if you will?

That's a great Shame. I have noticed that Major Museums are particularly good at Selling Off Donated Items also!.....I often wonder what would happen when the family of a Donat, visited & enquired after the particular Donated item. given to the Museum? I wonder how they would feel about the Generous gift being sold off?.... If the Museum no longer wanted / had a requirement to keep the item. it SHOULD at least be offered back to the family I would think. From a Moral Point of view?..... (In the case of Small Arms, obviously it would be more complicated. Dues to Licencing Issues )

It is called Vapor Blasting. Water & Sand combined in a Cabinet Blaster. When I was at a Major workshops in Warminster. It was used ALL the time on Refurbishing Small Arms & Parts. Prior to phosphating. & then paint spraying & baking in an oven for 30 mins. Then finally an oil dip. this was know as 'The Enfield Finish'. Rock hard & lovely smooth surface protective finish. I had small Jeep parts done in this way back then also!

Perhaps paving the way, to get some interesting vehicles gifted back here. From the Museum in the states in the future?.....

Yes a personal loss for Me, as Roger was a Great Friend for over 30 years. When I was serving I always popped into 'E' Shed to see Him. A cuppa & a Chinwag was a standard operating Procedure for Roger! Always helpful & a font of Knowledge. Roger was a Gentleman & Embodied the Spirit & Ethos of The Corps. He will be sadly missed by Many, & a Great Loss to the Hobby & The Corps itself. We have had to say goodbye to a Great Man, & True Ambassador of the Movement. I will miss having a Beer with you at show's Old Friend. I hope you are at Peace. Mike.
