  1. Jacco, hope you have more luck here! The KTR Forum is an option too, Johan Willeart is on there, and is very knowledable about markings. But you really need to get into contact with John Maestrelango from the MVT, he's the best, markings wise, but not online anywhere! Re. the pictures and texst on your post, If you press the top left A/A button, you can normally type, do not know why it automatically sets it to the 2nd button, which is a pain! Cheers, Lex
  2. It's the International Civil Defense insignia. Could be adapted to every nation that used it, so presume this is the UK one? The US type says CD in the triangle. Cheers, Lex Schmidt
  3. Thanks Hoseman and Marmite, I know of the scams, one picture of mine was used in a scam! another was on Ebay Brazil, and an aquintance bought it, paid, and never heard anything back!!, or received the thing!! all money gone, and not cheap too! Incidently I bought the Italy one, it is indeed a MKI, A friend in Milan checked on the owner (think he has posted here before), and all seems ok. Cheers, Lex
  4. Chris, Any pictures? that frame is a MKII and had the C number C5154590 from contract S1946 (not the date), plate should be rivetted to frame. Price is difficult to say without picture, and re. orginality, waiting to find the original parts could be a long wait, always possible to restore with repro parts, and when original stuff becomes available, replace it. Hope this helps, please let me have the engine number as it becomes known, have one on the register 10 digits after and 33 before this one! Cheers, Lex welbike(at)welbike.net
  5. Here 2 more: Somewhere in France 1940 Le Paradis France 1940 Cheers, Lex
  6. Here's one for a start: Oosterbeek, Holland Monthlery, France, test circuit. Have more, will have to look for them though, nice thread. Cheers, Lex
  7. Hi All, Just had the time and inclination to view all 30 pages, and am impressed! if I knew 15 years back the Diamond Diesels would be so popular now, I'd have never sold my 5 tonnes of ex Italian army spares!! sold it next to nothing to Jaap Rietveld, who still has loads of it, all the grey wooden boxes, full of N.O.S. parts, over 500 of the boxes alone!! anyway, that's history now. Was surprised to see only one posting of the Diamond T 975-975A (the differences have always eluded me!) here's a nice one, any comments???? Cheers, Lex
  8. Totally agree Rik!!! see pictures:
  9. Well, I rode a friends 3SW a couple of times, and found it completely gutless, on the other hand, a Dutch chap rode his to Normandy and back, complete with tent gear etc. on the back, so it cannot be completely useless! Cheers, Lex
  10. Interesting question, But Ron, only looking at horsepower is not all of it, the 3HW is a lot lighter, so competative with the G3WO. In my opinion: 1 Matchless G3WO 2 Triumph 3HW 3 Matchless G3L 4 Velocette 5 Ariel WNG 6 Royal Enfield CO 7 Triumph 5SW 8 Norton 16H 9 BSA M20 10 BSA C10 11 Triumph 3SW Have ridden all of these bikes at some point in time, but am riding one of my G3WO's almost daily, on and offroad, on the circuit, etc. etc. and love every minute, especially the supurb brakes! Cheers, Lex ps, I know there's more models and makes!
  11. Nice one Tom!! Just scanned this picture, "Somewhere in France" these guys also had some terrible roads to navigate! See also my WW1 motorcycle pictures in the "Motorcycle" section on this forum. http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?15463-WW1-DR-motorcycles both pages. Cheers, Lex
  12. Adrian, yes please! Do you want me to send the pictures directly to you?? or can you use them from here? Cheers, Lex
  13. Ok, thanks, but it says on the tyre Goodyear Great Britain and on the rim Goodyear Gr. Britain, part no. E30204 Hope someone can find out about it, after hours of googling, I haven't found a thing! Cheers, Lex
  14. Hi All, Talking about Longmoor, why were these locomotives called "Longmoor"?? It's a WD type steam locomotive, shipped over to Europe, at the end of war, and used in Holland for some time, and ended up in the Dutch main railway museum in Utrecht. Cheers, Lex
  15. Thanks Steve, have also a secret stash of parts like points, condensers, etc. and a complete N.O.S. engine in parts. Do you have any info floating around on the prewar Royal Baby?? as I have one of those too. But I was not entirely honest, I did fit new tubes, and replaced the canvas on the handlebars, as the old stuff fell apart! This Flea also has a bit of history, it was stolen of an airfield in the UK, by the crew of a B17, and taken "home" to the US, and used briefly in Florida after being painted red, then it sat for years and years in the former B17 pilot's cellar, and the rims rusted away, so had to replace those too. Cheers, Lex
  16. Hi there, checked that but rims are different on the inside, will take a bicture later today with a view of the other side too. Thanks, Lex
  17. Hi there, Picked up these N.O.S. tyres and wheels last weekend, but have no idea about what they are of?? Make is Good-Year, size 24x7, rims say made for GB, and tyres Made in Britain. Any Ideas please?? Cheers, Lex
  18. Ah, nice to see another one restored! Here's mine, and it stopped running last Sept, and have not touched it since! No repro parts on this one!! (even the tyres are original!) Cheers, Lex
  19. Hi Lee, I know Jaques fairly well, he has finished his restoration of the G14, here a picture in 1939 in Dutch use of one: Here one survivor in the Dutch Artillery museum: The one bike in the Nat. Motcycle Museum is an Big 4 Norton, the other is a first war one? The 1939 Mod. X had a sidecar with a Boys Antitank rifle on it, and a Bren, maybe only a couple made, here a picture: Better carry this over to the Motorcycle section?? Cheers, Lex
  20. Here's a Mrs. M in the sidecar!! Cheers, Lex ps, wouldn't mind the Brough!
  21. Hi all, Have a Norton 30's sidecarframe for sale, but is from 1933 I think? No connector pieces, springs etc. only what's in the picture, sandblasted, and primed, has some rustpitting, 150 pounds, can bring end of the month to the UK. Cheers, Lex
  22. Talk to Jaap Rietveld, he had hundreds of them! Grtz, Lex

    Welbike

Hi all, sadly I do not know how to update my site, have to change it to something I can work with! Have about 60 Welbikes in my register, and keep adding to it! very handy if you don't know the C number etc. People have emailed me recently about some Welbikes for sale in the US, that are offered by scammers, they use pictures stolen from my posts about them! So when in doubt, email me to ask, I am not buying anymore of them, so no competition from me, and always ask the seller for frame and engine numbers. Cheers, Lex
  24. Well, there are 2 different bikes shown there, and both are bitzas, the white framed (forks too) one, was once a Royal Enfield Flea, and it has some OHV 30's engine jn it, maybe J.A.P? same engine is in the other bike, without seeing them from the other side, I can't tell more. Hope this helps, Lex
  25. Thanks Ron, Yes, I have a registry, 60 original Welbikes in it, but am not so sure all the owners will want their numbers published?? And I don't know you from Adam, so please introduce yourself a bit etc. do you have one yourself?? Only from 3 maybe we know where it served during the war, most were however never used at all!! Cheers, Lex Schmidt welbike@welbike.net
