  1. Nasty man :-( I'm still waiting as computer says: currently in the moderation queue. I thought you should be working!
  2. :-O I imagine he was just trying to escape from his own little daughter for a night but to be honest I think its best for everyone to let him sleep on the open air lol
  3. I agree Steve, however it doesn't always boil down to numbers, the Tiger I was feared and all other German AFVs were Tigers in the eyes of our guys on the ground in Normandy. I think if it hadn't been christened and had simply been a MkVI the legend wouldn't have been so persistant.... just my thoughts.
  4. Hey! Get your own account, or I'll have to invade your Facebook, I'll set one up for you now;)
  5. Wow that bus scared me too lol Its a nice route I better leave before Alastair finds me here :-) ajmac wife
  6. Talking of pin ups, after seeing Jacks YouTube debue My wife is convinced that he has had some work done.....or is he not really the age it says on the HMVF info!
  7. Which makes me think..... do range wrecks still play an important part in spares for restoration projects, following Adrians restoration projects (both Adrians!) many parts seem to be NOS, presumably it is the more unusual and 'bulky' parts that were never stocked as spares which are difficult to find. Thinking about it as I write this I imagine that there are no hard and fast rules as far as availability goes. PS. Who is bringing the #3 Sherman listed on the A&E website? And what model is it going to be? I presume the other two are Adrians M4A4 and Jims M4A4(t)* *I know it isn't really an M4A4(t) but it sounds good and sort of follows the same ethos:)
  8. C'mon we all know that there is no such thing as 'irreparable' damage, especially not on a vehicle as heavily built as a Tiger I. Stress fractures in a near 100 year old machine built of riveted thin plate armour is however quite understandable... As steve said, the article sounds rather suspect to me.
  9. I just got back from a weeks holiday down in Devon, about 2 miles from Dorset, so we took the opportunity to pop into Dorchester via Maiden Newton, lovely area, the sunken lanes are cracking.... however Jenni wasn't too happy about all the battle damage on the NS of the Disco! Good video jack, lets hope we get lots more up on YouTube after the event.... to help promote the 2011 occurrence?
  10. There was me asking about how to get in without paying the £15 as I subscribed to Pathfinder.... after reading this (and my wife reading it too) I feel like a bit of an idiot. So I am booking tickets tomorrow, in the scheme of things it's not a lot to pay.
  11. The build-up begins.... Adrian - nevermind, one day you can 'upgrade' to a vehicle with a radial engine and junk that collection of Chrysler straight 6s
  12. Two little questions: How do I get a ticket if I don't bring a vehicle? - for an associate. How do I prove my Pathfinder subscription at the gate? :-) I don't want one of the 'marshals' directing us into the gutter as none ticket holders!
  13. Can anyone answer this question? Jack et al.
  14. I'll second that, I had a close call this afternoon:sweat:
  15. Right, under a Tank is out.... it will have to be our trusty old tent. I am subscribed to PF so my wife and I should get in free, ?question is how do we order the tickets in advance? I'll get my mate to book his ticket from the A&E website.
  16. Well..... I have booked the required days off work, my best friend is coming down to A&E along with my wife and our little 6 month old daughter and we would like to camp. What would you all recomend? Whare are the majority of us going to stay over night? I'd love to kip under a Sherman but I'm sure the little one wouldn't be so happy about it!
  17. There was a PzIV at W&P in 2009 which I presumed belonged to Mr Cadman, it was in one piece and a much easier project than anything that seems to go near Adrian :-D Does anyone know what its status is? It looked to have been in the same place for a while, just like his Panther.
  18. Hmm, I'd always wondered what the Sdkfz foundation JagPanther looked like before restoration. Thanks
  19. Yup, Sorry all, must read these posts more thoroughly next time! As my Chemistry teacher used to say, Alastair would be my best student if it wasn't for his careless mistakes when he is rushing! I won't go and get a lottery ticket then.... :-( Do we know if this is part of the entire vehicle as Steve mentioned?
  20. Considering the number of Pz IVs manufactured and it's place as 'workhorse' on the late war German armour divisions I am curious why no one has a running / driving example in the UK (at least not one on the show circuit)? We have got running: Tiger 1, JagPanther, Panther (nearly), Stugs, PzIII, etc in the UK but no PzIV, that is similar to having Comet, Valentine, Churchill... and no Shermans in running order! Considering that most of the 'Tiger' reports in Normandy were actually PzIVs its a situation that should be put right.
  21. I wouldn't stake my life on it, but that looks very similar to the JagPzr IV that was recoverd and restored in Poland over the past five or so years (it is now a runner, driver and the main gun operates), that was burried under a bridge in a waterway too. Seems too similar to be a coincidence, if it isn't the same vehicle then I'm buying a lottery ticket when I get home!
  22. With all these Russian million / Billionaires around over the last 10 years and the homegrown interest in Russian heritage I am surprised that there are no well known Russian AFV collectors around. I would have though having pots of cash and a few connections could soon set you up a quite expensive 'cold war' collection. Which I guess beggers the question IS there such a chap? Back in tha days when I recieved 'tracklink' there was a back page photo (they used to have a glossy cover so you only got nice B&W photos on the front an back) there was a photo of an IS-3 dug in on the Chinese boarder as mentioned before.
  23. It has always surprised me that the IS-2 never made it much passed the end of WW2, on the face of it, it is a good vehicle, yet the T34/85 eclipsed it post war....the same goes for the IS-3. Perhaps I am refering more to 'in the eye of the public', I'm not sure.
  24. Wash your keyboard Steve.... that is quality Soviet workmanship, also known as expediant use of an oxyacetelene torch :-D You have really got to hand it to the 1940s production engineering in the USSR, if the Germans had understood it then things could have been very different.
  25. My Uncle gave me a copy in the late 90's, the last time I ever saw him... What is the detailed reason behind the councils disaproval of the memorial? Is it more than likely that it will be removed, or just a back room moan on the part of council officials?
