  6. I have had four e-mails and a phone call from a German lass looking for someone who collects MV's to appear on a German TV program. My instant reaction was "No way", and now i understand other people have had this approach as well. I have had two warning e-mails from the MVT about this woman. Has anybody else been approached? I generally try to avoid the TV as these people go out of their way to make us all look insane war mongers.
  7. great pictures. I very much like the idea of an MH armoured car. It is amazing what can still be found.
  8. Awesome! Well done everyone and hats off to you Jack. Only wish i could have been there - but there we go.
  9. if you cut of all that cr*p welded to it then you would have a really nice plough garden ornament and two Sterlings. If they are in their shed making stuff like that at least they are not out and about harassing normal people like us lot.
  10. Two restored ones in the UK and I think there is another one in Holland. Two or three more under restoration in the UK. Two of which are owned by the same people and although they have plenty of bits i have no idea whether there are enough parts to do both. The other one is quite far along. I will see if i can get a photo of it for you.
  11. Thats less than i thought it would be - which is brilliant news. What is there to do next?
  12. Whereabouts was that then? Is it to be restored or sold? just idle curiosity you understand.
  13. My shower has really low water pressure. Could i pop round your house please.
  14. I think i have, but i hear that they are really valuable.
  15. Oh bogger then. I let three go for less than i should have.
  16. That was a cracking day out and brings back many memories to read your post. I have not seen many photos of this years RTV. Maybe it will appear in Pathfinder? Tragically i cant make A&E. Poor diary management i suppose. I hope it all goes according to plan and every one has a great time. Tim
  17. Here is a lucky find. In Devon there is a second hand tool shop just down the road from where Tony lives. he received a phonecall from a friend who had visited the shop to say there was an interesting magneto there for sale. Tony drove down to have a look and found this: The magneto (which is in lovely condition) was no good for us. However a couple of phonecalls revealed that it was the correct one for an LGOC B Type bus. Coincidentally, a friend is rebuilding one of those and has been looking for the correct magneto for a while. He has helped out a great deal in the past and is great to be able to help him back.
  18. Well done and what a great picture. I look forward to reading the whole story in due course. Tim
  19. Value in the UK about £5, although probably worth more in Canada. I have seen people trying to sell them on E Pay for £40 though.
  20. Do you have any more information on this please?
  21. Apart from having to be bent around the scaffolding pipe, the bracket also has to be "cranked". The same method to bend it was used again - a piece of pipe was put into the new "O" on the end - the embryo bracket was again heated to "red" where the crank had to be - rushed into the vice before it cooled and bent to the correct angle. The pipe in the "O" was to hold to bend it - and also to ensure that the "O" did not go out of shape. The two holes to take the bolts to hold it to the chassis were then drilled - these also automatically tighten up on the pipe so that the pipe is held firmly. The bracket was then cut to length and split into two and then cleaned up.
