  1. That particular seller needs to be congratulated on his precise & well written description. I wish a few other sellers could follow his example. I think he has visited me for a Humber induction once, he is primarily a Rootes man. I think the FV1601 that sold earlier in the year was his.
  2. Yes I generally search under those headings but also for Hunber, Huber, Hmuber, Humbar, Hummber, Humbber, etc Another useful one is Rootes, Routes, Roootes, Ruotes, Roots, Ruuotes etc :-D I also do a search for MV parts with filters for minus (& no offence to anyone here) US, USA, Dodge, Jeep, Beep, Chevrolet, etc I think you get the picture. But even so it is still a long search.
  3. Wayne you are losing your touch, an hour & half & you couldn't find it I've just checked mine & they are ok. These are the rebound rubbers that press on the chassis after the suspension arms have been hit by the upper bump stop rubbers. Anyway plenty to go round for those who need them. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/291317753383?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT I see the Ferret & "Humber" dip stick is still as described. I did send a little message. Sometimes they are ignored but generally sellers are courteous & appreciative. I found one seller I was in contact with yesterday who had linked two vehicle types together as one word, so that a search for either vehicle wouldn't show his advert, so he was grateful.
  4. Have you spotted the rebound rubbers yet? He has 7 boxes with a set of 4 in each. Need to be careful there is a Ferret dip stick "B60 so will fit Humber 1 Ton" Also yesterday a Gen Panel No.9 Mk 4 will fit Champ & Pig - In fairness to advertiser he has corrected that after I contacted. So you have to keep your wits about you, not always easy in the frenzy of an e bay scramble for these rare bits
  5. Wayne broadly speaking the Army used them up in NI, just a few odd things turn up that have been tucked away for years. eg my crated hubs had to come back from Africa.
  6. Thank you, I see I now have a retrospective Wanted appear.
  7. Peter I believe these might be available from http://www.woodauto.com/ There are some diagrams that may help here: http://hmvf.co.uk/pdf/ALL%20CHARGED%20UP%204%20ver4-1.pdf
  8. No I don't want a man Wayne, I've got everything I need thanks
  9. Thanks Lee I always thought there was one, maybe it got lost in the reorganisation of that section.
  10. Is it possible to have a "Wanted" prefix in the classified section? There are various options of "For Sale" but not a ready made & highlighted "Wanted" prefix. It self-evident of course that it is wanted by posting in the "Wanted" section but most of us I imagine view the "New Posts" section rather than visit each sub-section individually. Often I see a subject that sounds interesting to debate only to find that it is just a wanted advert. Many of us try to remember to prefix our title with "Wanted" but it is easy to forget & there is no mechanism for the poster to edit & add this to the title. Even when we do remember it is not striking as the bold highlight given to a "For Sale" advert. Many thanks.
  11. Iain that would be interesting to see if FOI can lever out publications rather than just a page or two from a MERLIN search. The other options I suppose are the RS or REME museums.
  12. Found this, still listed in 2004 although I don't have any later catalogues.
  13. Iain you need to look for the AESP sequence 5815-M-301-xxx Trend Electronic Teleprinters & Paper Tape Attachments
  14. Parked up indoors with the handbrake off & take em for a spin every month or so.
  15. Yes it is indeed Richard. 2008 time flies! True today as I said then
  16. You did better than me John, I googled them earlier for images but didn't find anything significant. That picture you found then was probably in relation to a thread on here because Skyddsvakt have cropped up before. I searched on here for Skyddsvakt in any post by me but it came up with nil. I would be interested to find that post again although the thread is probably the very long Pig thread in the British Vehicles section.
  17. I don't think so John the actually entry reads: S/O SKYDDSVAKT - SWEDEN 15/9/94 They pop up several times, but what their role was in the disposals I have no idea.
  18. John what you say makes far more sense than this curious pen entry in the Chilwell ledger of the FV1600 Series. Skyddsvakt, Sweden crop up quite a bit in the ledger. I find hard to belief that any of the Humbers really went to Sweden. I wonder if they were some intermediary agent for ministry sales. Another common entry is St Christopher House, which is an MOD outlet. I notice that the rear registration plate has been painted over. It strikes me that it might be to obliterate its original service identity because it was given a MS (Ministry Sales) registration that was crudely marked on the vehicle. Was the front registration painted over or removed? I wonder were there any daubing like this below?
  19. 25 BK 63 was struck off to Skyddsvakt, a Swedish security company on 15/9/94
  20. John thank you for those. Bit of a relief that there weren't so many - less of a temptation Relatively unusual to see the roof hatch mod, I don't think I have seen one in preservation. This must be very very early 1970s as it is very obviously still a Mk 1
  21. Good man! Pictures that include registrations would be of enormous interest John :-D
  22. I suspect one of them may have no rear doors or at least wooden ones. As it happens I do a spare pair of Mk 2 rear doors that came from another Pig, if anyone needs them :-D
  23. C. the contact set is LV6/MT8/LU /410828 for screened distributor DBCH6A (40309A) That is of course Lucas 410828 RAF 16E/12793 NSN 2920-99-806-5325
  24. Ah but I went via Devizes. Anyway found it on google earth, quite a lot of vehicles there. This is more fun than those mystery objects :-D
