  1. Thanks for this, looks quite simply as well, strangely enough I have a pioneer shovel needing to be stripped of paint as well as the spot of rust so I might try it first. One question from the article, I assume I have to change the solution after each cleaning process?
  2. Thanks, never heard of it in removing rust only rust prevention
  3. I have some just on a small piece of kit, an easy remedy, according to home grown information, is to soak in white vinegar, I am assuming that the reason for not using malt is that it could stain
  4. The heavy-duty artillery hauler you’ll see here is the famed MAZ-537, and it’s a real beast. The tree stump definitely isn’t small, so you can see why you would need something this big and powerful to uproot it. The MAZ is well-known for its hauling capabilities, but tree roots can run very deep. It’s tough to say who will win this battle, but some more background about this truck tractor may give you a better idea of its odds here. https://overpowerd.com/machines/this-military-base-uses-tank-transporters-to-remove-deep-rooted-tree-stumps/?v=2
  5. Having got around to looking a bit more closely at the connection, I tried a pair of long nose pliers, a gentle twist and they came apart, now to clean the rust and flaking paint off
  6. Using a transit would be an idea, similar to how the aircraft line up for the terminal
  7. I saw that when looking on the map, I have to say it is drawing me in, I assume they have a secure area if delivery is earlier I have to be in Cumbria for the 1st.
  8. Can we find out which ports they are thinking for using, as this would affect transport back. I assume they have arranged return transport?
  9. Thanks, must have sent the request to the wrong address then
  10. This question stems from the post regarding the Sterling SMG. The 9mm SMG with the folding stock was used as the weapon in the first Star Wars film, now the fourth. Do members know of other situations where a weapon was adapted for a different use in a film?
  11. Never used the 7.62 slr wooden stock but the plastic, always felt it was a rifle unlike the 5.56 slr (SA80). When being trained for a range conductors course for the Navy, did an afternoon on the Bren. My father always said that it had the part with the longest name but smallest part
  12. Just out of curiosity has anyone an idea how long this takes to come from the MoD?
  13. Brings back memories, used have to train people to use one, 9mm version, other bits which I only saw pictures of where a bayonet and a 15 round magazine, the latter was for boarding ships
  14. I thought it lasted a year but the link below says otherwise. https://www.gov.uk/sorn-statutory-off-road-notification/overview
  15. Does any one have a wiring diagram for the lighting system in particular reference to the convoy lighting. I have an issue where the dash board light for map reading seems to be permanently on. Also does any one have a code for the fuse box. I have checked all the fuses but seem to have an issue with the indicators, they have stopped working but the horn still operates. Yes I am a newby in working on mechanics
  16. I tried shiply they seem to do all sorts, may help, I used them for my Land Rover, yes I know different, but worth a try https://www.shiply.com/
  17. Every one, thanks for the help, I would also like to thank the lady at Land Rover who looked up the date when the vehicle departed from the factory, in this case it was the date of the manufacture. The MoT passed second time as they were unfamiliar with the lighting system on an MoD land rover. The documents are off to the DVLA for registration
  18. They are happy to test, however we have now come up with another issue where I need to contact Land Rover, date of going into service is on the sheet but there is no evidence of date of manufacture, contacted DVLA and DVSA but no luck
  19. Had the sheet printed off they still weren't happy
  20. The Land Rover is down for the MoT, it appears they didn't want to register it with out a number plate because its more difficult to get it registered with the DVLA. They still wanted me to get display plates
  21. The wires go up to roughly were the rubber fitting is and I assume to the metal upstand where the copper aerial fits in
  22. I am trying to wire the mount does any one know how to get the top off apart from brute force to access the connections?
  23. Do you know this is why I like the forum, I have spent days trying to find this reference. Many thanks, printing it off now
  24. The old one, you cant wash your hands in a buffalo but you can in a ........
