1. Many thanks, just waiting for data to arrive and start setting up
 2. Yes forgot that one, just trying to think of references if the data base is to go global
 3. Thank you for this link its a good site for those above ground, I think the Idea of the member who started the link was for those buried or lost
 4. Okay Draft which I think is suitable for world wide recording; OS Grid will be a drop down menu to give OS, Lat/Long or other advised reference point, MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM will be this reference, Confirmed or unconfirmed is a suggestion which can lead to further investigation Pictures column may or may not work but feel its worth a try I have chatted to a few mates and they agree with the suggestions. If members want to start emailing me privately I can start loading data to see if it works, once the, say first 5-10 are loaded will post again for comments

UPRN Date Reported By Whom Local Site Name OS Grid Lat/Long MMMMMMM Confirmed Unconfirmed Type of Vehicle Web Page for location of vehicle Pictures Web page for history of Vehicle type Date Recoverd if applicable By Whom New Location Additional Comments

HMVF 0001

HMVF 0002

5. Once I'd to get a good look at the Land Rover I found little damage, a relief, I also had a long think on what I wanted it to look like once cleaned up painted etc. I decided, probably against the purest opinion to have the external looking as original but interior at the rear with out radio, my son and I have stripped out the radio bars and spray painted the roll bar where the rubbing was from the interior fittings, parts for replacement have been sourced and bought, including the bits to get the bottle windlass working. Yes hang the expense going for as much as possible original Land Rover Parts
 6. This Question stems from the link; http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?22506-buried-and-abandoned-tanks I know of the Ordnance Survey Reference and the use of Latitude and Longitude to locate a position. What other systems are there and how are they converted to Lat and Long for GPS? Many thanks
 7. Re Contents of DTA Base, lets not just restrict it to tanks, any comments?
 8. I know one volunteer etc. Give me a chance to think of a layout for the headings then I will post it, trust me it will be simple so I can work it. Hopefully tomorrow.
 9. Having just come across this threads any one putting the information on a data base such as EXCELL? this would help in ensuring no duplication
 10. Would be nice for them to be uploaded for reference http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?54172-Vehicle-Documents
 11. Due to work was not able to check the Landie out, my fifteen year old son has nicknamed it "The Tank". having a good look it was in better condition than I expected, needs a front wing and clean off of some rust which is superficial. The next challenge was getting the MoT, originally the garage wanted me to get a set of "show plates" so it was easier for them to register, help from members of the forum showed the correct procedure. New battery fitted and off it went, failed first time due to the lights not being where they are for a civilian one, then passed. The administration issue was getting the date registered, thanks to Land Rover this date was the date it left the factory.
 12. Would be nice to know why you would not pick them again
 13. Was Reserve in Grey Funnel Line so learning Many thanks for the information, I did google them but when trying to enlarge them they did not look right
 14. I am hoping to get a history board for my Land Rover, planned to be used for charity events. Looking on line I am struggling to find good quality images of the regimental badges of the following they need to be of good quality for A0 or A1 Thanks in anticipation for any help

2 YORKS

1 RRF

4 SCOTS

33 SIG REGT (V)

DSG STIRLING

94 (BY) SIG SQN

39 SIG REGT (V)

15. After a few months owning the vehicle I thought I would try and document the fun and games I have had with the vehicle and these early posts are a catch, some of my experiences as a first timer may help others, some of my comments will be results of comments and or questions posted else where in this forum. I have always wanted to own a "proper" Land Rover and looking on various site was in negotiation with a couple of people to get one. Unfortunately, or possibly, fortunately was unsuccessful on 4 attempts, lucky 5. The vehicle was direct from the MoD and in good condition, bought by looking at the pictures, had been upgraded under operation TITHONUS, having experience of the MoD maintenance regimes knew it was a good risk to take. Never having purchased a vehicle this way I spoke to the DVLA and they gave me a list of items needed in order to gain a registration number. Once all this information was gained and I spoke to my friend who was a mechanic, my standard was, open bonnet, yup an engine close bonnet after checking oil and water decided to go for and got the vehicle. Transport was arranged and it arrived one wet day in February. Unfortunately I had to help unload and then dash away to take my son to play at a football match and didn't manage to get a good look at till the next day
 16. One thing I would say, I have frequently called the DVLA trying to get a vehicle registered and have no issues, even when receiving a letter advising application was not valid, treated them as a human beings, I always started on the lines of HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and asked the questions I needed to answer, they have helped me with no issues, if they were unsure asked me and vice versa. Others may have had issues and no doubt will say so but not in my experience.
 17. Had the same question, spoke to DVLA, fill in what you can, supply all supporting documentation and they will check, they may want originals which are returned seperatly
 18. I was told a number of years ago that it was a rule that 5 cars/vehicles was the limit, slower tractors on the road then, cant find the rule now
 19. Having hunted, I have found a, not very good copy of the RN record sheet I used from about 1986 to 1995, wonder if its changed. Sorry for the size of image
 20. One thing not mentioned the Navy had a VUR this had to record stop and start time for each trip and odometer reasons to correspond. Not sure re the RAF
 21. You were lucky I usually had to find one
 22. I looked at importing one from Spain, transport was anything from £1-2K on a transporter, yes greater distance than you, if you know the weight it will be easier to find out if possible, I did consider the site below, they were helpful but again needed the weight http://www.transporterhire.co.uk/car_transporters_hire.php Another site was shiply
 23. Looks as though they haven't updated the letter then
 24. Reading my FOI for information on the Land rover the MERLIN database is currently closed prior to the shut down of the system itself. There is no indication if access will be available once this work has been completed.
 25. I sent the first request VIA MoD website, on 11 April 2016, then I found an email address which I sent to 23 May 2016. DESSec-FOI@mod.uk Not Sure which one is the answer. Response was received 17 June 2016 Just for the record thought I would document for any ones reference, I have a copy of the original request on my file as well. From a previous comment I have now requested the AB412
