  4. Been to the zoo with the kids today , took a couple of pics of the buildings as it was the original Blackpool Airport.First opened in 1931 as a municipal airport. 1939 The site becomes Stanley Park Aerodrome. World War II breaks out on September 3rd and the aerodrome is requisitioned as an RAF parachute training centre. To begin with there is the air traffic control building and one hangar, now known as Hangar E. Later, an extra four large hangars are built and Wellington bombers are assembled and flown off the site. After the war finishes the site would never be reopened for flying, as the Squires Gate site is found to be more suitable. The famous female pilot, Amy Johnson, is also known to have flown from this site. 1945 The Airport Closes

  7. Heard a sad story today. Chatting to the old guy who owned the jeep in the pics,(taken last year ),earlier this year one of the out buildings at Lytham hall went up in flames. The Jeep was in it , then to add insult to injury there was asbestos so the jeep ended up in bits , bagged up and disposed of.(he said it was cut into 4), dont think it will be long before he has another tho . he said he missed it.... He was telling me he drove them a lot during the war and told him self he would have one one day ( this one he had about 25 years )....

  12. After picking up a rally trophy from my mate last night(he won it for his lightweight at a local rally) for someone who is in a vehicle club. I was amazed at how bad it is and was wondering what is the worse trophy anyone has been awarded at a rally. As can be seen it is a piece of black ash type base, with another piece(not central) on top of a copper tube , then to top it off is a cockerals head, with cock of the north engraved :nut: !!!!!!!????? Its also not been engraved since 2007! (name of club hidden to protect the tight wads).......
