  2. maybe folk join and find that they feel out of ther depth in a very expert swimming pool the depth of knowledge on here is quite staggering that said it is a very warm and helpfull place to drop in for a cuppa and a chat i dont post to much as i am not an owner of a military vehicle whilst i do have a colection of jeeps i do have a very broad interest in all things military and love it here and i hope my posts have merit when posted

  4. i got some paint was hoping to find food cooler that looks like a jerry can german i think met and shook jacks hand..not at all nerdy as i somehow imagined a jolly nice chap and i got all me fingers back too:-D

  9. and this is in a yard of a mate the trailers are at auldwalk steel works the dodge is a w63 the engine is shot head has been off for about ten years and now is lost
  10. i remember watching the us scrap heap chalenge and they found and used an austin gypsy i never thought they were sold in the us
  11. john couzens a gent of a chap he also owned one of the big olie ford broncos one 3 i think it came over for the very first hill rally not sure if it ran but it did compete for the fist rerun in the late 80s we towed him out on one stage i was doing rally recovery at the event sad to hear he has passed along with others of that era from the awdc

  13. put a steering damper on it before i had jeeps i used to run and dismantel landys came across this a few times at first i rebuilt the front end expecting to find the problem but no all was well got the tyres balenced properly and all seemed much better until i hit a good ripple in the road then it was a violent death wobble that just about shook you out of the seat put a damper on that was the end off all the probs for good
  14. i will be there sun with my rare but non military jeep i have to realy as we only own 30yr old jeeps no cars for us:)
  15. it is realy nice to see the odd one about again since a few resrve one were sold i never understood why when british leyland was created that then never shared the best of the land rover and the gypsy in stead of the rather compromised product of aunty rover
  16. yup thats how they were before putting the 3.8 in my uncle george fittid some tube that went from the cab to the inlet manifold so he could use the easy start without messing with the bonnet
  17. they were awfull diesels in standard form they always ended up adicted to easy start we put a 3.8 six cylinder in ours ...much better

  19. i may be able to locate a jeep tailgate but it would be the later cj kind with jeep in small letters rather than capitals the on line store 4wd hardware will sell you a repro willys gate
