  2. Ahem,......... only just read this thread,.......sounds fantastic, and one I'm certainly hoping to make, (esp as there's enough in the area for a weeks hols....., as long as I can book time off, and I'm not going to know that until mar '2010.) Great idea, Jack. All the best. Andy
  3. Looks interesting,..............anymore details ??
  4. Know that feeling........must admit to operating/winding fuel up via lever on end of starter motor, and not via pull wire..........(have also reverted to introducing fuel into top of carb,.....encourages motor to fire and help pull fuel through quicker....... well works for me. :-D On the rubber mat front, my battery sits on a piece of foam camping mat. Andy On the 'interesting' bog paper front, I use to run a youth hostel in the depths of the north york moors, (westerdale, if anyone knows it.) and the plumbing was of the type that it too much of the soft absorbant roll was used, it bunged up and needed a good rod.......- not summat I looked forward to doing, y'understand............:shake:. anyways, I used to hang the good old isal on the hook,........never did have to buy soft paper whilst I was there..........
  5. Next time we'll park you tight to Stuart and Haley,......all you'll do then is visit them, instead of the ground.........:cool2:
  6. What about those folk who have lived in the area ALL their lives,..........inc PRE airport........
  7. Shoving it in reverse, and praying...........:shake::shake:
  8. I've voted NO,.......feel really sorry for those folk who have lived in the house's facing demolision;........Where are these folk going to live ?? if properties are compulsory purchased, and i'm guessing thats the only way some will be forced out, will they be able to afford to live in same area, (if they so wish ??) Thames estuary idea sounds like a good one,.........well from the little I've read on it.
  9. :cool2: 7 mpg, eh, Graham,.........think you need to tow the jeep around a bit more...............tws more like 4 then, wasn't it....
  10. As there are a few HMVF'ers in this area, Swill, I'm guessing there may be folk able to help, with the move,........acting as rear lights/indicators/long stop, etc if needed.........give us a shout, if required. All the best, Andy
  11. Tis also a LONG drop, when you fall out, eh, Graham........:cool2::evil: AM going to stonleigh, so will give you a shout, during week. Andy
  12. Just as a matter of interest, looked up this name on my list,(E.Keble Chatterton, The Epic Of Dunkirk, 1941) and its not listed, either, although in his defence he does state that the list does'nt include ships belonging to either merchant navy or life boats. He also states that it may never be known of ALL boats that took part, which I guess is most probably correct, esp those who were crewed by their own owners, and maybe's never came home.
  13. Aye,.........please do; Its one of those subjects, that draw's you in,......talk about bravery.
  14. A 30ft wooden boat, name of 'Cresta', built 1936,was destroyed by arsonist vandals whilst at her moorings, in arundel. www.sussexexpress.co.uk/worthing-news/Worthing-mans-Dunkirk-boat-destroyed.4842912.jp I dunno,.........words fail me...:argh: don't seem to be able to find 'Cresta', on my list of Dunkirk little ships, though....... Andy
  15. THANK YOU,.......all contributors to this thread. Respects to you all, and esp those who you feature. Their Names Liveth On. Andy
  16. If I live to be 100 I'll NEVER understand folk like this,.........and they seem to be same in nearly every hobbie/walk of life,......from steam traction through aircraft/boats, to sewing machines, (don't ask),........don't even get me started on the Side axe collectors.........:argh:. Fine, I can understand holding onto said item, for a while with view to restoration/using said item,......but there must come a time where the majority of us see that it's not gonna happen, and release item tpo generate funds to do something usfull with...........I know freedom of choice, etc,........at times it just seems a crying shame, asp when something really special ends up as nothing more than a pile of scrap, simply because someone didn't want to admit it was possibly beyond their means/skills to save it and pass it on. Not a pop at anyone in particular,......guess we all know of someone like the above..................I'll just go and count/polish my side axe collection....:cool2: NOT
  17. Hi Mark,.......got mine in post a while ago now, will need to check i can book time off before sending back; (end march),..........hopfully as it was a highlight of my show year in '08. :-D All the best, Andy
  18. Hi Lee, yup, I was..........unfortunatly the site owners thought it too near their steam rally date, (worried we might rip up the ground, if we'd had a wet winter) so didn't want it then..........:-( Now looking to hold it around Sept time, although it seems like the goal posts have been moved, somewhat, ...........(have been to see another site, that COULD be a good host for an easter event,.........will know more by end of this month. ) All the best, mate. Andy
  19. Thats one question I'll be asking...........
  20. Will certainly echo the above thoughts, re Felix; A thoroughly decent guy. My respects to his brother and family,........the movement is all the poorer with his passing. R.I.P. Felix...... Andy
  21. S'funny really,..............next thing you'll be asked for, by them, is where's their pocket money...........
  22. Good luck with your search, Gary,.........I've been looking for a while now for similar maps for antwerp area '44/45, with no luck...... All the best. Andy
