  1. It would appear the thin spoke wheel is .075” narrower in diameter suggesting the plastic is 0.0375” thick over the steel core (I’m surmising there is a steel core and it’s not solid plastic.
  2. Here’s a photo of a correct 1942 Black thick spoke Shellar steering wheel. if yours says SHELLAR on the back of one of the spokes and has a solid boss on the top, then it will likely be original.
  3. No it’s the earlier 1942 black Shellar wheel. As mentioned above, the 1941 and early 42 Willys MB and the Jan to April 42 VEP Ford GPWs has a black Shellar plastic steering wheel. The the early to mid 42 Jeeps had a mixture of Green Shellar steering wheels thrown in. Next was the thin steering wheel from probably mid 42 to cease production. is yours definitely a Hotchkiss? Just be sure it’s not an original Shellar as they are scarce in good condition and are valued way above a thin spoke. a check on line suggests these are 17.2 to 17.3” in diameter.
  4. I can measure the diameter of my 42 GPWs Black Shellar steering wheel if it helps.
  5. Same thread as mentioned a few posts above.

  7. This one is close to yours https://nationalmotormuseum.org.uk/vehicle-collection/matchless-g3-auxiliary-fire-service/
  8. Weight is one thing but the size is another, it’s bigger than the Chinny! I’m impressed and it’s not the first time a Chinnys impressed me.
  9. That is impressive, I wonder how much forward speed the Chinny can get and of its enough to create lift on the wings of the Cariboo?
  10. The threads are out to, the TMH cover is held with 2 x 2BA round head screws the same as the mag release catch retainer screw. The barrel nut, if I remember correctly is 22TPI UNS.
  11. The whole front barrel trunnion is different, you can’t even compare dimensions as they are so different. The face of the trunnion should nearly in line with the magazine opening, the one in the plans is something like 4mm out. Also the ejection port is almost parallel with the mag opening, a real STENs ejection port is something like 20mm further back.
  12. Yes, those plans aren’t accurate, there’s some dimensions that if you follow, they won’t fit. Also, they are different to the original so aren’t interchangeable.
  13. I wouldn’t want to be a Police Officer now, my father was a 30+ year dog handler and despised what the Police had turned in to. Based on stats and meeting targets he was glad to leave but sad at having spent so long watching things change. ive done 24 years and I’ve had enough, I need a simple job to tide me over. Zero responsibility.
  14. I’m seriously considering at some point in the future of applying for a section 5 authority for collecting purposes. There are a large number already issued so it’s not an impossibility.
  15. The orange isn’t dangerous with or without the skin. On the tree it is fine, on the table it’s fine, it’s those that wish to throw it that are dangerous, hence the move to bananas!! Bananas are dangerous in or out of the skin but are more lethal when it is just a skin.
  16. LoL! Ive not seen a reference to a ‘Notification of a change of address’. do we think these details will be collated against a name/address or just stored as suggested?
  17. What’s this in the address??? Deactivated Firearms Notification Home Office Serious Violence Unit 5th Floor, Fry Building 2 Marsham Street London SW1P 4DF I feel guilty and I’ve not been naughty!!
  18. Link above has hyperlinked a little short. Try here instead.
  19. Nice job mate. do you know where the photo of the Wellingtons was taken? It looks like they are about to be inspected as each aircraft has its air or ground crew at the front stood at ease. And all the props are set with the 3rd blade pointing up. just one minor comment though. You’ve put a massive effort into the albums but then put a Queens crown RAF crest on the front. It would have been the George the VI crown, if you can find one. if I remember and you’re interested, I’ll see if I can get some photographs of my Sqns album. They have been part of the Sqn since they were taken in the early 40s.
  20. To be fair, if I take my Wife anywhere it aggravates things too.
  21. I notice the passenger seat has an extra sheet of steel added to the front to stop the seat base bending as they do.
  22. That’s another thing that grinds my gears, I bought a CZ Bren deactivated to the original EU spec and then one year later they changed the spec again and said that the gun was now defective. It’s the EU that’s defective, not my Bren.
  23. I’d agree but a) They are being held off a license legally so what are they classed as. My certs state they are no longer classed as a firearm so actual firearm legislation can’t apply (but I know it does). b) The offence is the individual selling a defectively deactivated firearm and I’ve not read anything to suggest selling to a dealer is acceptable (again we know this is reasonable). I wonder what would happen if every collector applied for a Sect. 5 license to hold and buy older deacs? I just see more ambiguity in an already ambiguous aspect of firearm law.
  24. I’m not desperate, I wish I’d picked up one of the WWA ones a few years back but the funds wouldn’t stretch. one will turn up at some point.
