Its nice to know in this modern age of electronics that you cant do without a wooden wedge,thats why they still need a ships carpenter.

I wonder what type of timber he would keep in stock ! Something to think about ! I've never seen a picture of any ships carpenters stores or workshops ! Have you any experience of them CW ? :???

I have never met a carpenter,but on a type 21 at the festival of the sea we did see a store of timber 4x2 planks etc,and were informed it was in case of a breach.

I am gonna hazard a guess and say chaff launchers to confuse incoming missiles ! Only a guess mind ! :-D

They are Quad Harpoon missile launchers. Harpoon is a medium-range (90km) anti-ship missile using inertial and active radar guidance.

Long boat and steam Gunboat,the Gunboat is often in the harbour in good weather,it has a diesel boiler now .
