  1. The sad fact of the matter is that the DVLA have "lost or misplaced or sold" more personal details than this scam can hope to glean........ They were investigated by Information Commissioners Office early last year and they have been told to pull their socks up or lose the contract. http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/autoexpressnews/214623/dvla_security_breach.html http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/autoexpressnews/email/214623/dvla_security_breach.html http://www.silicon.com/management/public-sector/2007/09/04/privacy-watchdog-clamps-down-on-dvla-data-sharing-39168347/
  2. I have space on my drive for that Give some of our nabours something else to moan about....
  3. Hi Rob, Expect to replace at least two seals every year. They seem to last between 6 months and three years in my experience. I’ve replaced the cylinders but no difference. Banisters have seals. Don’t use NOS ones. I find that the first time I run my Saladin after winter, all is OK. But within 24 hours two or more will be leaking. Over the years you will become very proficient in replacing them Now takes me 20 minutes per cylinder and half an hour to bleed the system. I am trying a difference type of seal on two of the cylinders made from polypropylene(??? Spellin). So far so good, but they have only been on for two years. If they last another 3 I will have the other 10 cylinder seals made from the same stuff. Unfortunately they wont reseal themselves, just get worse. The Saracen and Ferret brake cylinders however don’t seem to have the same problems. Have fun..

    Rb44

Got the registration details through for the RB. Just need to fit the number plates Saturday morning and go for a test run Andy
  6. Clive, Put Dyna Beads forums in google, see what come up. I've just done that and cannot find any bad comments about them. However, nor can I find any info to convince me that they are any good. I think your pig wheels are too small for Saladin, but they could fit the Daimlar armourd car which I beleve have the same type of disc brake that Saladin has. Andy
  7. Clive, that hole allows the brake ajusting tool to be used on vhicals that have disc brakes such as Saladin. Andy
  8. I've been and done my RB44 this morning. All sorted in about half hour. Just got to wait for the tax disc and certificate of registration to come in the post sometime next week. Andy
  9. Photos for the mortor stowage bits. Also ideal shed for Saladin wheel, though you need the bionic man to help you up with it Andy
  10. Its just as I had it from Withems. Not got to do anything with it. Andy
  11. The RB passed its MOT test today with no pronlems. The V55/5 form arrived in the post this morning. Hoping to go to Nottingham on Tuesday to get her registed. Andy
  12. Montie, I'll try. Problem is I get half way though doing an artical and get bord. I'm a practical hands on person. Writing is not my strong point. I'll try and take lots of photos though. Work will not start untill after bonfire night. Andy
  13. Oily, the idea of putting a B81 in has already been discused with brother. I would prefere the correct engine though as it should be. We'll see what turns up. Enquirys are being made. Andy
  14. Thats the information I require. Thanks for that. I have that data plate fitted, but its not very self explanatry (not to me anyway) Will be sorting out the MOT tomorow. Andy
  15. For the last two weeks, on and off I've been replacing the head gasket on my Saracen. All seemed to be going well. Tuesday evening she ran up fine. Only it soon became evident that there was a leek somwhere as steam was coming from somwhere arround the inlet manifold. I decided it could be the O ring that was not sealing properly. Today Chris (Sirh) came round and we did a cold pressure test. She has a cracked block Soooo more work to be done. Will get the engine out during November and have a better look.
  16. Hi, looking to book my new toy in for its first MOT this week. Anyone any idea what the weight is? Nothing in any manual. Withems web site says 3050 kgs, the dodge50 fourum mentions 2050 kgs. The data plate may as well not be there for all the information it gives.
  17. I have a new toy arriving Wednesday Rang up for insurance last Thusday only for the first question to be asked, whats the engine size? I havent the faintest idea A look on the net shows at least 3 engines. So, whats the engine and capacity of an ex MOD RB44?
  18. Howard, I now have all the parts for the breech block if you want to measure them up sometime. I still have not got around to fitting them in. Or I could photo and email them for you.
  19. The 2 bolt holes at the top are for a bracket which sirhc has identifide. The hole below takes a bolt for the mudgaurd - an aluminium spacer fits between.
  20. Montie, Reg number is 05FF23 Andy.
  21. Montie, only just read your request. I have put some photos here:- http://www.livesteammodels.co.uk/adj/saracen/index.html
  22. Carl will be there with my Ferret. All being well he will be there on the Sunday. Been servicing it today, all ready to go. Carl's not so keen on taking the Saladin this year after the eventfull trip he had last year....
  23. It should be above the two rear doors. However, if its an uparmourd one then its likly to be coverd up. My Saracen also has the chassis number on the two escape hatches. But these can be swoped arround....
