lynx42 Rick Cove
I removed the cylinder head from my GAZ 67B and discovered that it had at some time in the past cracked and has been welded up. I think that the welding has failed and water is leaking into the cylinder. If you have a spare, please let me know. Regards Rick.
LarryH57
Is there any hope of getting parts from the US? Is there any compatibility with the Ford AA engines made in the USA or were the Soviet engines metric and the USA ones in imperial?
Kufra Kiwi
If its just an ordinary Model A Ford engine (which appears to be the case) they are still two-a-penny in USA, Australia, NZ, South Africa, South America and maybe even in UK. Its probably one of the easiest vintage motors to find, and also one of the best. I don't think the Russian ones were metric. Just Google "Ford Barn" to find out more. There is no difference between the A and AA motors.
wally dugan
THIS is not to muddy the waters but the attached is from the FVRDE report on the GAZ 67 B trails and their opinion on the model engine type
lynx42 Rick Cove
Thank you LarryH57 and Kufra Kiwi for your comments, but, the engine is not a Model A Ford but a Model B. The Model A is a very different cylinder head. I could go with a Model B, BUT, the GAZ 67B head has Russian writing on it and I would like to keep it as original as possible. Thanks all. Rick. Kufra Kiwi
OK but Googling "Ford Barn" is still your best source to find out anything about Ford Model B motors, and it also has quite a bit of useful info on GAZ jeeps.
