info required leyland/daf 244
johnwardle replied to cosrec's topic in Transporters & Wreckers (All Nations)
Thanks for your kind words, I am always happy to help, I must say that is a rather impressive truck. I have owned my Leyland Daf T244 for 13 years now and although I don't consider myself an expert I am lucky enough to have the full set of AESPs to help me out with any problems. -

Land Rover Wolf HS 90/110 roof nets and bungees
johnwardle replied to paul connor's topic in British Vehicles
The bungees look like lengths of bungee rope, it comes in 100 metre rolls you just cut it to the required length and tie it in place. Also used on the side sheets of MAN, sorry they are now Rheinmetall trucks. -
Reynolds Boughton still exist, why not contact them with the chassis number and they will be able to give you a definitive date of manufacture. I have met Richard Boughton who is a director of the company, and I am sure he would be willing to help you.

What you have is part of the CES for the Cougar family of vehicles, Mastiff, Ridgeback and Wolfhound. The spade, rake/hoe and Broad or narrow picks attach to the head of the axe by R clips with the head of the axe pointing upwards. Not an easy tool to use.

Did anyone else spot the M35 REO in the convoy at the beginning of the new BBC series SAS Rogue Heroes?

Or could be the law trying to trap someone!

Leyland DROPS four tonAEC bushes sleeves
johnwardle replied to Olivedrabsteptoe's topic in Heads Up: For Sale!
DMC 7FW also covers Leyland DAF 4 tonne, DROPS & Foden. -
Heddington & Stockley tonight, Jim Clark did a full pull of 105 metres, unfortunately the Scammell only made 65 metres.
-
Some photos of Martin's DROPS pulling the sled at the 2017 Heddington & Stockley steam rally, also a Scammell Pioneer which didn't quite make a full pull due to a fluffed gear change and a Foden 6x6 wrecker which did make a full pull. All this happened on the Saturday evening after the public had left.

Exmoor trim do these, but they aren't cheap.

There was a No.19 radio case in my dad's garage, he died 3 years ago and we haven't got round to the daunting task of clearing the garage out. The garage was a prefab house and the last 10 feet of it (where I last saw the 19 set cabinet) is literally up to the roof! My brothers and myself have set a date in August to clear everything out, if the 19 set cabinet is still there I will let you know.

We had some new ones delivered a couple of years ago, and they were varnished!!! I remember the ones that we used when I was at Arborfield were just plain wood tops, not treated with anything.

UIN stands for Unit Identification Number which every unit in the British Army has its own unique number. Army UINs begin and end in A. I don't know about Navy and RAF but it is fair to assume that they begin and end in N and R respectively. I'll try to look up A1021A at work tomorrow.
