question Bedford MJ Colors??

I have just bought a 1989 AWD Bedford MJ which has it's original green paint covered with a sand color. Also the top of the cab is painted red and the doors black.

 

It came directly out of service like this from CFB Suffield in Alberta.

 

I have two questions:

 

Why did they paint the truck like this? :confused:

 

What is the original paint code for the green on this truck??

Hello mate,

 

This is the standard colour of vehicles in Canada. They also paint them the same in Cyprus. Basically a green/sand colour scheme.

 

The roof is red for easy ID for Military Aircraft. Think the doors are black to highlight UIN's.

I don't know what the paint code is, but it's just a NATO IRR green, all over.

Nato green is BS381C shade 285.

A red roof would suggest it was attached to the training team rather than the battlegroup.

 

This colour scheme is also used on Salisbury Plain for vehicles attached to the training unit.
