unknown aluminium frame

gung

Question

I got hold of some frame parts, but i have no clue what these are for...

the connectors are all missing, and i dont know if the tubes are complete...

what is special on em is the endings / see the pics and i found a nsn on one tube :

8340-99-122-5532

UNIVERSAL MEMBER,SH

The longest tube is about the length of the 12x12 frame

may it be for an aluminium shelter side tent/penthouse?

but it must be very tiny....

try your best!

That NSN does not appear as a component in any of the JSP supplements on tentage.

The item was made by A B Connectors in Glamorgan. It is a Universal Member, Short & is defined as FV591717.

Given that it has a FV number of course means it a design spec of the FVRDE (Fighting Vehicle Research & Development Establishment), which suggests it may be a vehicular CP tent of some sort. If it was stand alone tentage it wouldn't have a FV number as it would fall under the auspices of the SCRDE (Stores & Clothing Research & Development Establishment)

I see it was also used by Australia & Turkey. So what AFVs have we sold to them?

it's for the shelter on the side of a transportable container

Hej! Looks good! but the tubes i got seems to be to short!

are the tubes of your tent the length of what is written in the upper graphic?

and how do the connectors look? are they very strong ones, or normal as from the 12x12 tent?

and do you also have the blackout curtain? and if - is it canvas too or different from the outer?

and does your frame exactly look like the one on the graphic?

questions over questions?

thank you for your help mate

Bastian,

I think the short ones are OK as they have appr the same lenght as the ones for the curtain.

My tubes are as the drawing states.

Connections are not the heavy type, but similar to 12x12 ones -> they have a different shape (and maybe angle).

I don't have a blackout curtain, but I can imagine that the fabric will be similar to the black out curtains in communication bodies eg.

My frame doesn't have the "metal wire" crosses. Once on a show, I saw a TA unit with this shelter, not using the wires. The picture is somewhere on this forum.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

tubes are not numbered and 9&5 are not in my frame (even the connections don't allow to use these tubes).

On the picture, you see the connectors you have to look for.

Perfect Piet!

Thank You Mate!

The only Question....

What is the official name of this Shelter?

Does anybody knows?

And as the drawing shows A bit different frame - what is this for - a larger container shelter?

Hi Tony! The connectors i got and Piet got fit over the tubes and are stronger than the connectors of the 12x12 and 9x9 tent, but the tent connectors will fit inside! only problem can be the angle, as i dont know, if it is the same, so u will get problems fitting the sides proper... i dont even know if my connectors are the same as the ones of the 18x24 tent, as they are also the stronger types!

i will post if i can test the normal ones against the stronger connectors!

and - can u provide a picture of the original pack?

i got one - heavy wit a lot of aluminium joined to the canvas... dont know if this belongs original to the shelter....
