antarmike Posted November 7, 2008 Share Posted November 7, 2008 (edited) The RAF gains the first officially verified Airspeed record for a jet plane when Group Captain H J Wilson flies A Gloster Meteor IV at 606 mph. The event Happened at Herne Bay. The Aircraft was completely standard, powered by two 3,500 lb thrust Rolls Royce Derwent V turbojets. The course of 3 kilometers to be covered four times starting opposite the Miramar Hotel on the East Cliffs along to the Reculver Towers. Group captain H. J.
