Willyslancs
Can anybody tell me what Laurel and Hardy are doing here in a Jeep? Was it something to do with war bonds, etc ? The pic i believe was taken on the 29th April 1942 .

abn deuce
Yes it's most likely a WWII war Bond drive photo as many of the Hollywood Stars were asked to help sell War bonds here's a link to a site that gives some of the details .http://digital.library.okstate.edu/encyclopedia/entries/W/WA020.html

Tony B
Out of intrest what was the vehicle in the film? is it an early Willis Overland prototype, given the film is dated 1934.
Enigma
Its a Bantam. First Jeeps date from late 1940 so the date can't be 1934.
ford 369
Tony, I remember seeing the model I presume you are talking about in the large department store in St Helier(les Riches?) not sure of the name as I try to avoid these kind of shops as my wife likes to get me to waste money on unnecessary perfume and jewelery etc(for her not for me I might add) when I should be looking in the militaria shops etc but now the two best ones have gone I need to find somewhere else to hide in town , cheers Nigel
Tony B
yes it may have been at home. As I rember the figures had overlarge heads and were in civillian suits. It's just one of those odd flashes of memory when something is said. There is a lot of retro about at the moment one shop in Orpington has a collection of Betty Boobs about 3 foot high and £300!
