Willyslancs
Found these pics of a pontoon bridge built on Stanley Park Lake 22-23 Aug 1945 .Can anyone tell me please why they would build it when its a small distance to walk round to the other side.? :coffee:
Willyslancs
The bit of lake they are going over is so small , seems pointless . Cheers
Stormin
The bit of lake they are going over is so small , seems pointless . Cheers Probably enough sections to make it a worthwhile practice exercise but it's on still water not flowing, so not really representative of a river. Looks more like somer sort of publicity exercise, small crowd gathered to watch a few civilian looking cars accross. Was it something to do with celebrations at the end of the war? Willyslancs
Not sure mate ,not much said about the pics .The other side where they are crossing is rocky so would have been interesting to watch the cars trying to get off .
