Bedford mw shackle pin removal

Recommended Posts

I am replacing the rear leaf springs on my MW. Had to cut the old spring off. The pinch bolts have been removed. But getting the shackle pins off is proving very difficult. They are pins rather than bolts? The end of the pins isn’t a true bolt head but round with two flats for a 3/4 open end spanner. Ideas please.

Hi

This is what the shackle pin look like, minus grease nipple  (this one was badly worn and was replaced - I got my new ones from Norman Aish)

This was when it was fitted

Hope this helps

Hi

Forgot to add, they need to be knocked out with a drift as the splines in the pin nearest the nut are designed to bed into the shackle to stop the shackle bolt from rotating

Cheers
