Daniel‘s
Hi I want to say thank you to you all who helped me to restore my Flying Flea. I‘m very satisfied with the result and really was dependant of your help. The result of my work is looking on the reenactment display. My Flea is working great I have found an original newspaper picture of a lightweight motorcycle, possibly a Flying Flea. Thanks to all and lot of success with your projects. Greetings from Switzerland

welbike
Nice one! Here a better shot of the James, and the article turned the right way. Plus some more Normandy pictures, seems the Commando's used quite a few of them, but also the Canadian troops. And even the wartime correspondents got it wrong back then! Cheers, Lex PS, I have partly restored wartime James ML for sale if anyone needs one. Cheers, Lex Not true Lex, during the war, both the James ML and the Royal Enfield WD/RE were affectionally called "Flying Fleas" by Arthur Bourne. (Bourne was the editor of The MotorCycle and he was also the man behind the success of these lightweights with the Airborne Forces.) It was only after the war that the "Flying Flea" name became synonymous for the little Royal Enfield.
welbike
Haha Jan, I know all that, but Arthur wasn't on the the Beach in 1944. Lex
