woa2
I am looking to buy a Car Battery Conditioner to keep my batteries in good condition. Has anyone here experience of them and what is a good make or type? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks
matchlesswdg3
CTEK ones have a good reputation.
Chris Hall
I have a CTEK and I do have one problem with it. If the battery has a surface charge only, it can’t detect this and thinks it’s fully charged.
matchlesswdg3
Yes, Chris - I get that as well and in those cases, I have a really cheap dumb charger (that just charges) that I use to get some charge in sufficient for the CTEK to take over. To remove a 'surface-charge' I have a headlamp bulb , lead & croc. clips - illumination of 1 min. is sufficient. CTEK are good as are others , however the RING that I use has a battery analyser - so you know very accurately the capability of the battery , some maintenance de-sulphation can often improve , log the data - that is the only way to get to know your battery(s).
