Leyland Martian/AEC Militants

Hi fforums was in 101 Reg in the 70s and drove these for 4 years or so. 

Good experiences. Most rememberable was trip Germany. 

I had Martian full cab tractor and picked a breakdown on a ridged bar around Newark on A1 on way from S Shields to Colchester. Drove for nearly 20 hours that day then only a few hours sleep before going to ferry. 

Tractor gave no problems except only about 15-20 mph max with the Martian cargo on tow. 

Fuel consumption was low.  Figured about 1.5 mpg. 

Power steering was ok compared to Militants without it. 

Now 69 so past is memories.
