Hello all,

I am Russ Nurse, a Sgt in the RAF police based at RAF Honington, in Suffolk, near Bury St Edmunds.

I, (we, my Sqn), have recently been gifted a Shorland SB401, and an RAF Police Command vehicle, together with 'Pansy Potter', an armoured VIP escort vehicle, (which has not arrived with us yet).

My purpose in joining this forum is to try to gain some knowledge and insight on how to go about restoring this classic vehicles. i have been tasked with giving them an external make over and putting them on display as part of an RAF heritage trail.

Any info on where to source parts, how to obtain correct paint etc would be most useful. I have been in touch with Clive Elliot, who has already been of great help, as the acknowledged expert on Shorlands. He was even able to provide the original key numbers!!!!

I am looking forward to inter acting with you all and learning about our vehicles.

Welcome to the forum, I'm in the RAF too, but I joined as an Armourer (insert well known song here) there's quite a few serving and ex serving members. I hope you find what you need, have you rung around the ranges and training areas near you? There could be some donor vehicles knocking around Thetford Forest.

Hello

welcome to the forum. Shorland SB401 is the best vehicle out there in my opinion but I am slightly biased as I own one ! Clive is a mine of information but if there is anything else you need to know in relation to the Sholand and parts etc please just ask. Most of the running gear is Stage 1 v8 landrover and in many cases quite hard to find. Drop me a pm if need be and would love to see another saved

regards Paul
