leonheynders
Hi all, not sure if I am in the correct area, as I am new to HMVF forum, I am looking for the correct length of the rear wheel spokes of a BSA airborne bicycle I have the original hub (40spokes) but I need the length for the spokes. Are they two different sizes in the rear wheel or just the one size and also how long are the spokes? thanks in advance Leon
Ron
Just looking at mine. It's a cotton reel hub with the same size spokes on both sides. I make them about 11 1/2" (292mm). Anything like a motorcycle wheel, you grind any excess length off the spokes on the inside of rim. Ron
leonheynders
Spokes I have got are 283mm long and they are still too long hub is original BSA hub 40 spoke Even when I do the spokes up to the limit(end of thread on spokes) the hub still moves sideways. Ron
Spokes I have got are 283mm long and they are still too long hub is original BSA hub 40 spoke Even when I do the spokes up to the limit(end of thread on spokes) the hub still moves sideways. On a bit more closer inspection of the spoke lengths. I am coming up with 11 1/4" (285.75mm) the tyre size is 26". Ron PS. I'm wondering if you have laced the spokes correctly? Let me know if you want a straight on shot of mine. Edited November 22, 2014 by Ron
