bawtrylwt
I have a morris commercial which has been retrofitted with a perkins p6. It starts fine when cold but when it's hot the engine will not turn until it has stood a while and cooled. A new battery, starter, and battery lead have been fitted and we have tried a jump lead from the block to the negative terminal on the battery with no success. Does anyone have any ideas what the problem could be? Thanks.
cosrec
What does it do eg make a click or clunk does the ignition light go out when you press starter ?
N.O.S.
Finding the cause - another thing to check (if you can get a bar on the front of the crank) is if the engine turns freely when hot (it may tighten up when stopped hot). Try it when cold first to get a feel for how it turns then try when you get trouble whilst hot.
Caddy
Could it be something daft like a breakdown in the windings in the starter motor: fine when cold, but when hot shorts out.
