Cut away weapons

jamie meachin

Question

Hello all,

Can somebody help? I have a cut away browning 50 cal machine gun. We have had it checked by the police firearms officer in our area but have been told by some military collectors that I still need a de-act cert to have the weapon? So I have the police telling me one thing and collectors telling me something else. Confused.com.

Jamie

If some of the component parts are still intact then it may make the gun Illegal.. you would need a licence to hold certain component parts of a firearm.. those parts may need deactivating to current standards.. I have seen cutaways for sale with deac certs.. it may be worthwhile submitting the gun to one of the proofhouse's & get a cert to be on the safe side..

Good advice it takes away any questions that may arise if you sell it or the police.
