Toolman
This is an interesting one: Security Measures stepped-up in Sarawak A convoy of three ferret armoured cars of the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders at a Shell Oil derrick recently, as security measures at the Shell Oil installations area in Miri Town, Sarawak, were stepped-up in the face of increasing threats from Indonesia. 1961 Can see 07CC29 07CC30 06CC88? Again, none of these ferrets are currently known to exist. They must have almost been brand new in this photo!
ferretfixer
Nice pic, dont think they are from the Argyll's though! Appear to be wearing Hussars Badges & the front officer is wearing one of thier disticntive 'Tent' hats!....... Argyll's tended to wear the chip bag, with red & White diced band. & twin swallow tails at the rear!
m109a3uk
Funny to see that they have PSP's on the front and not the fancy sand channels!

The regiment moved to Aden in 1961, reroling as an armoured reconnaissance regiment and after serving there against insurgents for almost a year, sailed on the SS Oxfordshire to the newly-independent nation of Malaysia. It was based in Ipoh, Malaysia from October 1962, and saw limited action against Indonesian insurgents, seeing service in Brunei and Sarawak on jungle operations during the Indonesian confrontation, and in Singapore as part of the Internal Security Forces.
