sim60
Hopefully this is the right thread(if not please move it).A couple of us are discussing the purchase of a Half track, but we werenot sure if you needed an "H" licence as they are tracked.None of us has one, any info would be much appreciated. 0 Adrian Barrell
No, an H category is for tracklaying vehicles steered by their tracks. A halftrack only requires a B category though is too heavy for a post-91 pass licence (possibly, this is from memory!)

0 Adrian Barrell
It doesn't matter how big your willy is, if it's steered by its tracks, you needs an H to drive it on the road...............!
0 andym
I thought that Little and Big Willie were fully tracked, not half tracks? Andy

0 ArtistsRifles
Can you imagine the screams and wetting of sundry pants at VOSA /DVLA if you turned up requesting to road register a Mk V....
0 nz2
Or the confusion also ( considering the points raised in earlier posts) with a Mk1 tank with a trailing set of wheels to assist steering. Doug :-\

Thanks Simon:-D No "H" license category required, I thought that you could drive pre 1960 vehicles on your car licence ???? A couple of points that I think should be pointed out. Halftracks have poor visibility at awkward road junctions, you really do need a co-driver at all times, tracks are getting rather expensive to buy (£3000.00 plus) and they are only good for 3000 miles on mettalic roads from new, 3 miles to the gallon (Petrol) etc, etc............... and no longer cheap to buy. ( I do have a White M3 in my garage)
