UK Patent Numbers

I was looking at dating a tyre gauge when I found this website. It gives the Patent numbers by year, so you can date items by the issuing of a patent number.

I can now date my tyre gauge as post 1954. I was hoping it was wartime.......

Robert,

Even if you had a wartime tyre guage for your vehicle, you would still have postwar air in the tyres ;)

Hello,

Wartime ones are dated and have the crows foot, and come in a little wooden tube. It's shorter and fatter than a normal gauge. I have one in my Mw tool kit, i guess yours would have been similar?

No, according to the illustrations in the Ford Drivers handbook, the tyre gauge looks like a normal style one, not the shorter one. It also comes in a plastic or leather case (I can't tell from the drawing). The search for a complete tool kit continues.....

Thanks for the photo.
