Eaglehurst
Superb Dave - thanks for posting. Love the 60 Pattern gear!
wdbikemad
Seems the DPM 60 pattern clothing is also undergoing water-resistant tests here (1969).........rather interestingly, is the presence of the hood on the smocks !!!! It is not thought that any production 60 (52 pattern) hoods were made in DPM......perhaps they were........!!! Need to examine a 69-72 NSN QM list to see if a DPM hood is specified......any help out there ? The test also seems to show a new boot undergoing trials..........I bet that these tests were conducted at either the APRE at Farnborough, or SCRDE at Colchester......?? Enfield1940
This was on eBay recently: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221023036937?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 Although I assumed it was a plain vanilla OG P52 hood with a DPM cover added. So did I! Actually I think in this case it is, as you say, a homemade DPM hood using an OG as a donor...

wdbikemad
No 53 dated hoods would have appeared in DPM......the pattern wasn't developed until the 60s......possibly 63 at the earliest......... Any 60 pattern DPM hoods made would date between 69 and 71........would definitely have a NSN at this point....and if 60 pattern smocks and trousers are anything to go by, any hood produced would have a unique NSN......... wdbikemad
I hope this will of interest too some of you. http://www.britishpathe.com/video/testing-army-clothing-colour/query/TESTING+ARMY+CLOTHING Dave Just reviewed this wonderful short film again, and the DPM smocks featured appear to be the same item as my recently-aquired 66 dated prototype DPM smock.......they have press-stud pockets, exposed frontal zip, full lining and the hood appears to be permanently attached.........right at the start of the film a female tester seems to be adjusting the externally-protruding waist drawcord of the garment, a feature found on the prototype......
