BIGREDONE
I am looking for information with regards erecting cammo netting in WW2. I know we have those mushroom things on poles these days, but what was used back then to hold the netting up, or did they use mushrooms? Thanks Paul
0 Nickmow
Well, back in the 80's we just used to go to the woods on camp and chop down a few "cam poles". No hard and fast rules but about 1.5 to 2 inches thick at the bottom, and about 10 foot long. These where inserted under the draped Cam Net to form an irregular shape and lift the net off the vehicle. (Land Rover, hence the length). I've no idea if that's how it was done in WW2 but I imagine it was something similar.
0 mash
On my old laptop I used to have a PDF doc that was the basic camouflaging of a vehicle, this was an American WW2 version. I downloaded it for free so a quick scan of google may bring it up. This any good? http://www.ibiblio.org/hyperwar/USA/ref/FM/PDFs/FM5-20B.PDF Loads of other manuals. http://www.ibiblio.org/hyperwar/USA/ref/FM/index.html Edited July 24, 2012 by mash
0 Nickmow
The Vehicle section of that Pamphlet is pretty much the same way we used to do it, interesting stuff. Thanks Mash.
