nathan01
Hello everyone, I am involved with a property which has an Anderson style shelter within its grounds. At the end of the shelter there is this small generator. Would people be able to prvide more information as to its age and likely use? The fuel tank was appears to of been housed in a small asbestos lined structure located externally above ground to the shelter. Unfortunately we are unsure as to how long it has been there but the external step leading to the entrance would of made extremely difficult installation... Apologies I couldnt get a clear picture of the engine number but the lighting at the time wasn't too good! Many thanks in anticipation. listerdiesel
Probably a 3.5kVA 240V set. We've got a couple: http://www.stationary-engine.co.uk/CClimax/CoventryMenu.htm There are a couple of variants, one with the engine and alternator side by side, and one with the alternator on top. Battery charging is built into the alternator, there is a circuit diagram on the control box, but if yours is missing, there's a new drawing on that menu page above. They are sweet when running, little side-valve water-cooled four cylinder with magneto ignition. Look up 'Swift Motors', that's where the engine came from, designed for them by CC until Swift went under. That should be an Iso-Speedic governor under the carburettor, controlling the engine speed.
