Early Mk1 Militants (like mine) do not have any form of external oil filter. The later varients are fitted with 2 fairly substantial spin on filters at the off side front of the block. Given that both early and late engines are the same, is it better, or even possible, to fit a set of late model filters to an early motor? and is there anything to be gained by it?
