Austin Truck with turret

Hi all, I'm Don from Downunder and this is my first post. I'm hoping someone out there may be able to help me with my query.

I came across the HMVF site while trying to find any information on an Austin truck I saw when travelling between Lower Slaughter in the Cotswolds and Little Harrowden in Northamptonshire via Silverstone. We're not actually "into" military vehicles ... our interest is in vintage Austins (we'd actually been in Ireland on an Austin rally), but this old grey truck with a turret on top, was just sitting on the verge at the corner of a crossroad somewhere, probably north east/east of the Cotswolds. We were travelling with friends and just weren't quick enough to get the camera out to take a photo!

If anyone out there knows about the presence of this vehicle, we'd love to hear from you. It would make an interesting talking point with our friends at the Austin Motor Vehicle Club of NSW, Australia.

Hello

Not sure what you quite mean about a turret on top! but was it a "cupola" for observation!?

Attached is a picture of my 1943 Austin K2 GS truck, sadly with no cupola on Arromanche beach last year

Hi colin,

it is possible make for me any clouse pictures on your GS body, and send me the measuress?

To Donjen: here is picture of the Austin with the "copula"

Hello Radek

I dont think my dimensions will be any good for you, as my truck has had about 2 foot of extra chassis welded to the back and a longer GS body fitted, thats why it get confused for a K3 all the time as its so long! i'll gladly send you the dimensions if you want still?

Maybe one day i'll convert it back to original length, but it is rather handy for carrying all the re-enactment gear around!!:cool2:
