Found a site all about music , what the hits were and who sang them , the site is searchable by type and year . had a peek at what the 25 most popular songs for 1944 were in the USA. Perhaps there is a simular site for music in Great Britian ? .Do the re-inactors play period music at W&P when sitting by their Vehicles for example ? As G.I.'s would have been listening to the radio while in boot camp or in barracks in Great Britian .This is the site I visited , I m not connected to it in any way just giving credit

You can check for these songs on Youtube and or pop over to wekipedia to look up the history of the Artist or group if you want to learn more about them .

Several of the songs or groups have hyperlinks that were part of the original list I downloaded.

alan turner

the first one sounds like an Irish Lullaby

It is

Too-Ra-Loo-Ra-Loo-Ral (That's An Irish Lullaby) Composer: James R. Shannon

My favourite isn't on this list probably because it came out in 1946

I'm a Cranky Old Yank in a Cranky Old Tank on the Streets of Yokohama with My Honolulu Mama

Doin' Those Beat-o, Beat-o, Flat-on-my-seat-o Hirohito Blues

by Hoagie Carmichael

I used to like "Over there" before those ***** at Go compare messed it up:-(
