robin craig
Does anyone have any experience with casting a new running surface by casting using polyurethane instead of rubber? We are looking at it for our BV 206 R
Captain Crank
Hey Robin, You might check with these folks in Colorado first. http://www.safetyoneinc.com/safetyoneinc-cgi-bin/parts?action=search&&page=1 See page 5. Doing it yourself could get expensive real quick. John
robin craig
Dear John, Thanks for the hint, but these guys are very pricey. My mate in Michigan is doing his own in polyurethane at an all in cost of $32 a wheel. We are likely going to follow his lead. sourdough
Hey Robin, I'm wondering how you made out on the casting of your own road wheels for the BV. I'm very interested in this process. Thanks, sourdough
robin craig
Regretably "living the dream of farming" put everything on hold. We will be back at this subject soon. You can pics of the before and after of the re rubbering on my album of the BV 206 R
timbo
Now if you culd recast the pads on CVRT tracks - that would really be something.. Thanks Tim
sirhc
Now if you culd recast the pads on CVRT tracks - that would really be something.. Thanks Tim It is possible, but there's enough track around at the moment so it's not economically viable.
timbo
It is possible, but there's enough track around at the moment so it's not economically viable. Nice to know it can be done if needed. These things seem to ebb and flow. My limited experience if you can't find it, give it a few months and eventually it will turn up. Guess we will be OK with CVRT bits for few years yet while they remain in service. I did hear that J60's are becoming increasingly rare though, so if anybody wants one....! robin craig
Just to clarify what we are going to attempt. We had our roadwheels re rubbered a few years ago but they screwed it up and we were left holding the baby on that. A mate of mine has been doing his in polyurethane and that is whee we are headed.
