  1. So your missing the hooks and the brass nipples off it? and the hoop rings.
  2. Well done dukwman, nice to see they've found a good home. With you being the dukwman, can you shead any light on the fate of the Royal DUKW? A chap local to me knew one of the crew that took king george ashore on it after d-day.
  3. Hello Jules, A very nice project you have there, i'll look forward to seeing it finished. Are you missing the iron work from the rear body? Or have you taken it off for restoration?
  4. whilst your on the subject, here's a very early ANTAR shot!!! Do you remember this john?
  5. It's not yours jules i know where it is now.:coffee:
  6. Hello, Funnily enough i've come across a handbook for the commer beetle. Stapled to the inside cover is a list of all the commer beetle chassis numbers built, along with there engine numbers and census numbers for each vehicle. I just need to find a list like that for the bedfords!! Talking to a mv elder he remembers 4 or 5 of these still in exsistance, a couple of running ones were still about, he says the one shown above was one of the roughest!! So they are still about somewhere.
  7. Three lads in a lap dancing club are watching a busty blonde gyrating on a pole. The lad from nottingham sticks £20 on her left buttock. Not to be out done the geordie lad sticks £30 on her right buttock. Last but not least the scouse lad takes out his visa card, swipes it down the crack of her bum and takes the £50 cashback.....
  8. Got a nice surprise this morning, i received a letter from Normal Aish of Bygone Bedford Bits, congratulating me on the article and my truck. Certainly made a change from the usual bills. :-D
  9. Jules, There was a WOT 2 in the budge collection. It has a radio body, i couldn't say what type, but i do know it was completely rebuilt. I did come across a picture of it, i'll see if i can find it again
  10. There thats the colour we sprayed. My mate took it on his fancy camera then messed about with it. I took a picture at exactlythe same time and it's brown. the red tinge it's got is overspray, I'd been spraying something else in the garage and hadn't had time to wash it off. That was taken the weekend before we left for france, and only its second outting. I'd just had the numbers and the name put on. The two bedford's look well together chris, have you done much with the Mw recently? That picture was before it got the belting mud on it. Why did it have to rain an hour before i got there?
  11. Hey thanks mate, I totaly missed this thread. I'm made up with the article, john blackman has made a top notch job of it. I still can't understand why the colour comes out brown on the photos, it's definatley green, you've seen it yourself. I wonder if it has anything to do with the reduced green pigment as you were telling me at trucks and troops. In the pictures it looks like the early morris colour. Goes to show you can't trust a photo. Look forward to seeing yours done in it.
  12. I'm not ripping in to anyone. I just don't like to be made to look stupid on a public forum. The title of this thread was changed before 12, i was in bed by 12. I'm not bothered when it was changed, its lee thats brought that point up, and is contradicting what i've posted earlier. why? I thought it was heavy handed how quickly it was done.
  13. Lee, The title of the post was edited last night, please don't treat me like an idiot, a saw it with my own eye's. :argh:
  14. We have to be careful all the time. Lee acts with the best of intentions for this forum 24/7. This i have no doubts about, but it seems a little heavey handed the way this has been handled. Something to reflect on is i know some peole have stopped posting on here because of this kind of thing , and the ones i know about are the more experianced mv owners which is a real shame for everybody.

Lee, You haven't answered my Question, have you spoken to the owner yourself? The way the post was edited late on last night i guess you haven't, or at that point you didn't, you were taking what Duwkmans first post on the forum said, over commanders thread. I dont mean any offence to duwkman or commander, but who's to say dukwman isn't some crank trying to ward people off as he's trying to get the lot for less than scrap? I don't know whats going on but it all seems a little big brotherish when you are editing peoples posts, when your none wiser about the truth. I know neither duwkman or commander, and i have no idea who owns the duwks as neither do you, your only taking Duwkmans word for it, Over commanders, who in his first thread states he had the land owners permission to take the pictures, which commander can do whatever he likes with. Commander was only passing the information on that he was told. Now if duwkman does own them its to his benefit that commander posted his comments, at least now he knows that his duwks are being offered for sale and he can do something about it.
  16. Have you actually spoken to the owner youself lee? From what the post says it looks like your going off someone elses words not the owners. I think its a bit harsh to edit the thread as you have done. I'm sure commander isn't trying to pull a fast one, and his only concern is trying to help others out. That maybe that the farmer is selling someone elses property, if they are already sold. It's a bit heavy handed to do what you've done and will only stop people posting about there finds. The person who took the photo's owns the copyright, a friend of mine is professional photographer. How does google earth go on? they've got the pictures on there site, and many more of private property.
  17. Bob, There was one sold at the stapley water garden auction a few years back, i think it only fetched about £2500 and it seemed pretty complete. I have no idea where it went. Lovely truck by the way. What year was it built?
  18. Hello mate, I'm very sorry to hear about your step dad, i think i remember him from the shows with freddie, does he have two daughters? it is many years ago now, i think my sister used to play with them when we met up. If i'm thinking of the right chap he used to do quite a few shows with it. I'm sorry i can't help you with the vehicle but i'm sure someone from that area might be able to help. I'll have a chat with my sister and see what she remembers. *Edit* My memories are correct. I remember your stepdad myself, a very well spoken tall chap, he always seems to be wearing shorts. It might be worth comtacting the shropshire mvt they will remember him and maybe shed some light of the vehicles history. My sisters going to ask mt dad see if he remembers anything.
  19. I think there was a period where both cabbed and aeroscreen bedfords were produced, I have some wartime film of the Mw's and you can clearly see the later dash in an MWV, it also has all the later features such as bush bar, lights, and engine side panels. I think the film i have is dated 1941. Did you get the chassis number off it?
  20. Hello kpt, What has happened to that piston? I guess the plugs had been removed, Is it just rotten or has it melted? There are still plenty of bedford engines around so you should pick up another easily enough, or John Mortor is still doing reconditioned ones, save you a bit of time.
  21. Does your RL have power steering? My dad nearly bought some 1200's for his QL, that was untill he saw the width of them, they seemed a lot wider than the 1100's. It doesn't sound much bigger, but they are, i think when you see them in the rubber you might have second thoughts. when you say your looking for better tyres, do you mean grip wise?
