  1. What a pity, although I wasn't going I know how you were all looking forward to it.
  2. The Cletrac does it for me too, left un-restored so full of character and fun to drive. Ah well, some one had to be the first to claim this one, a Pioneer, haven't got a pic of a tracked Explorer! Roger Barnard getting through a wet hole I had just winched 432 out of, hence the comment! (not by me) :-D Something went wrong...

  5. I was going to swap the engine with the Mazda SL 35T from my LR to give it a bit more go..............
  6. It was a great vehicle and nice to drive except for body roll. I liked it a lot.
  7. I bought this vehicle with very low mileage at very good price with the intention of another extended adventure trip, this trip never happened and I sold it on. Any one know what it is? Apart from the obvious that is :n00b:
  8. Not really Richard, I always look to see if I can find a date on websites like that, saves wasting time, some info still on the web is 10yrs or more old! right click> view page info.............using Firefox that is.

  10. Not trying to tell you how to suck eggs, but are you going by the temp gauge, or is it just steam coming out of the rad filler or vacuum release valve? If so taking these apart and carefully reassembling did wonders for mine, it now holds pressure which raises the boiling point.

  12. There was at least one recovery version like these called an Explorer, (has a badge on the bonnet side) I have a pic somewhere, can't find it though.
  13. Don't know about getting in, but I was once looking at a Churchill and wondering how on earth a person could exit through the circular side hatch between the tracks in an emergency, when someone standing beside me who knew about these things said "Fear is a great lubricant!"

  15. John Attlee at Beltring, having trouble with the jack legs that kept sinking in the ground, despite stacks of timber under them, very hot work. :sweat:must have been the hottest day for years.

  17. certainly looks familiar CW, only met him a couple of times, looks like the same sort of haircut as back then anyway.
  18. I seem to remember he was involved in auto and marine gearboxes and the like, may be wrong though, it's been a while! If it is him he let me take his Jeep off and drive it all over Weavers down, within about 15 minutes of us meeting, :sweat:great bloke!
  19. Found out that an Allan Priddy was involved in this, do you know if this was the same allan Priddy who was in the AWDC years ago? Had a Golden Eagle Jeep.
