  1. good question, under the old silver paint in the air cleaner housing, they were blue!..., so I'm not sure why, but I put it back to that. I know, everything I have seen so far, all is silver, save the block and air cleaner horn. Perhaps someone can weigh in? cheers Nick CWC Canada
  2. Nice find! the Ferret is nice too...I'm eyeing the RPK ! seriously, she's in nice shape and I'm glad you got it running. Like Robin, a bit east, in Ottawa, Canada, just drop a line if you have any questions that you get stuck with. Cheers Nick CWC Canada
  3. 750k ...does it come with the lifetime use castle apt. as well? :-) Nick CWC Canada
  4. Well, yes, you can convert anything, but how much do you want to spend. I'm thinking the 7.3 is the Ford Diesel V-8? An Adapter will have to be made to interface with the bell housing, but the big issue will be the fluid flywheel... The B 60 is still readilly available, so if you need help finding one, please let me know. If you want to do a 7.3 conversion, thats a different conversation. I would look at other options for power, such as a 4 BT or other smaller diesel, if i was thinking of a mod like this cheers nick
  5. Yes, I agree, MLU seems to be a private club for those already involved, but I suppose they like it that way, as new members can be so pesky, wanting info and such :-). (to MLU folks....yes, thats a joke, ok) So, we, and others just focus eleswhere to give and recive needed info. anyway, to you question, see below for 24 stud FH rebuild info; http://www.vanpeltsales.com/FH_web/FH_37-48engine-rebuilding/v8_overhaul-forwrd-contents.htm hope this helps Cheers Nick CWC Canada
  6. Speaking of points... these had to be removed and heavily cleaned on the 3A engine... ...before we FINALLY had engine start and run today yippeeeeeeeeeeeeee now the work starts ! cheers Nick CWC Canada
  7. Hi everybody, We are looking for pictures of the various mounts used on the Bv 206 forward cab that carried the .50 HMG Many Thanks Nick CWC Canada
  8. ...and once you are done, check for compression and any "blow by" of oil, or fuel in the Oil. Rings can rust themselves very well into the pistons, and at the least, will not seal, at worst, score the bore. Having just done a ring set on a B series that had been sitting too long....I was shocked that the rings were so wedged in the grooves by corrosion, that they came off the piston in little bits !! one more handy tool that is available now, a bore scope to check the cylinder walls for striations once the motors is free. good luck! Nick CWC Canada
  9. We had two Stainless Steel, heavy wall tube section cut to size. We found when they heated up, they expanded almost perfectly to a sung fit. Cheers Nick CWC Canada
  10. Thanks Terry! particularly the Ref. number! Cheers Nick CWC Canada
  11. I used to work on heavy armor (the newer stuff!) , and when I got onto the Saracen, the only "Spall" type material I ever found on the Mk. 6 was sandwiched between the original rear door and the Up Armor plate, but this wouldn't really act to prevent spall. RPG 7 or similar would still cause spalling into the crew compartment. Its more like spaced armor. I took apart the Trakmark covered padding and found a dense hair like mat. This seems to me to be more of bump pad for the occupants than anything that would stop Spall. I spent a long period of time doing BDA's (Battle Damage Assements) in a "Arid country that remains nameless'' and studied the blast results that killed APC's and MBT's, most had Spall liners installed, and you will find that those liners tend to be harder material, layered up and glued to the interior. You can kill anything with a big enough, or well placed enough "item" that goes BOOM Knowing how much kenetic energy Spall has when moving inside the hull, its doutfull that this padding would do much I do have a question though. As I look at old pictures of Saracens in NI, I see some have padding, and some don't. Why is this? anyone have knowledge of this? Cheers Nick CWC Canada
  12. ...I should spell check more often... ...So NOW on to Saracen stuff ! I can't type worth ...well...you know Cheers Nick
  13. Hello everyone! I hope as many of you as possible who live in the UK get to see the Canadian Lanc thats currently on tour! But, no to Saracen stuff. Yes, Mk 6 with RFC. years ago, ours ran for a bit with no shroud, as it arrived here in Canada without one. That being said, we are having one made to be installed, as the Rig WILL have runability issues without it. Even with the Shroud installed, we are in the process of installing electronic Ign. and have re-routed the fuel lines to be far as possible from the engine block. We have used Stainless Steel Braided line, to help mitigate Vapour Lock issues. As well, we have wrapped the exhaust system with insulation to further keep heat moving out of the engine bay (we also work on older '60's american muscle cars here.. so there is lots of cross polination of runablity techniques employed at times. Just installed the seats on the left side, oil cooler and tank, so things are moving nicely along. Got a package of goodies from William, so its getting a new set of lights today! Cheers...and as a final thought, I hope that everyone drives on the street with a crew commander in the turret? Its a standing written rule here at the Collection that armor (and quite a few soft skins) can only play in traffic with a full crew. Camera is a great install and adds much to safety, but it takes one accident with an HMV to put us all in a sling. Nick CWC Canada
  14. Sorry for the late reply! I was pulling a cooling system out of a Goat (less fun than it sounds!!), anyway, yes, I agree with Richard about the process. The little tubes that you can make up and place on the bleeders are a very good idea, as there is considerable pressure have fun! Nick CWC Canada
  15. Hi Robin, We've had great success with the electronic ignition, so we will be converting the Saracen, and when we roll the Stolly in for a re-fresh after that, we will be converting that one as well. Nice Fat blue spark ! Cheers Nick
  16. Hi Rick, I'm Nick from the Cold War Collection in Ottawa, just "north" of Robin. We have a Belgian Scorpion (65068), same noise, and we just changed our gearbox to a Rebuilt unit last year for other reasons. (leaks etc.) same noise in both boxes Your video sound fine to us ! Cheers Nick\ CWC Canada
  17. Thats a great question! I could have been, as there are mounts that are not part of the Kremlin fit up that remain "unknown" nice to add one though! hey, did you see the LR FC posting I sent you yesterday? Cheers N
  18. well, some time in Tofino BC on the coast ws well spent, but I was living in Whitehorse YT at the time, and a guy wanted all 3...so, the sale paid the trip home :-) He used them as Stand Up Paddle boards, or SUP's I had more than a few comments had when getting topped up with Diesel in the First Nations Communities I was passing though !
  19. Yes, we can help with that. What pictures would you like? Nick CWC Canada
  20. And just for fun....we have a complete mix on ours, two types of nipple fittings, and with a few old button types randomly attached as well ! We have decided to replace everything with the newer type to ease servicing Nick CWC Canada
  21. Yep, Perfect!!! Just heard from our decal maker, and she can use this with no issues! Thanks so very much Nick CWC Canada
