  1. Yeah i put the flap in aswell, completely forgot to mention it
  2. Put the rims together tighten up the nuts, pump the tyre up, we put around 40PSI in, you will see it slide up the rim, be careful not to make it too loose, as when you put your foot down the rim will spin in the tyre. Here is a picture of the finished product. . Two down one to go!
  3. Its not a pretty job but it doesnt need to be, you cant see it anywhom, its a messy jobs, squirted duck oil WD40 onto the rim after getting all the rubber and rubbish out the inside of the tyre.
  4. I put the tyre down on the work bench and gently ground it, the grinder really does dig in and bite so you have to be gentle with it otherwise you will bugger the whole lot up! It throws lots of molten rubber all over you and everything around you, I wore eye protection and gloves the second time around ...
  5. Thought I would take some pictures of how I fitted the tyres to the rims in the end As you can see here the tyre is too big for the Rim.
  6. Spent some of this evening being shown how to TIG weld a few Bedford QL wheels.. Got a few bits of homework to do, been given 2 foot of welding wire and i need to learn to feed it through my left hand steadily before I can have a proper go. Went down to a local machining workshop with Ian and got introduced to a lovely chap called scott, he has a stunning ongoing matador restoration, learnt how to use a hydraulic press to punch out the old bolts, hoping to go down one evening to do the rest and have a proper chat with scott, would have taken some pictures but obviously its not my workshop, I would get a bit annoyed if someone took pictures of my workshop.. I think this thread is going to get interesting especially when I come to weld the trailer! More pictures to come..
  7. Looking forward to making seeing this project going forwards, most of all im looking forward to driving it.... I know guy will let me practice in his next year
  8. Spentpart of the day today cutting the chassis up. As the trailer Is going to be used properly and it wont just be for show we have taken the decision to make up a new chassis and we will onl be keeping the original A frame, feels like project has taken a massive leap forwards in progress as this is the final part of taking stuff apart. now its time for me to learn to weld properly, slightly worrying as I know I'll get the blame if it goes wrong But on the plus side.. Got the morris running today, changed the head gasket, ran lovely albeit on 3 cylinders.. Lord Litchfield says its the condenser, so shall get it changed over next time I am over to play and see if she runs better!
  9. I wouldnt say its a dieing hobby.. Im quite new to the hobby and I can openly admit that I am probably the youngest member in my region, most the guys my age are more interested in getting drunk and get lucky down the local pub, where im happier having a beer with the oldies and hopefully grtting a ride on a military vehicle Given the choice of owning a jeep or say a morris commercial I wouldn't say that the morris uses THAT much more fuel to running a jeep.. its mostly storing the vehicles and working on them, when I came into the hobby I wanted a stolly, which ive come to realize that I will need seriois equipment and lifting gear, 10 years ago people had common sense aswell... I had a driving test for my trailer a few days ago and the assessor didnt understand what double de clutching was..
  10. Hopefully we will be doing some cutting on Wednesday and get the new metal for the chassis, this will really see the project moving forwards.
  11. Luckily its seeming to come apart nicely.. lets just hope it goes back together just as nice. It should be put back to its former glory ready to go behind the morris for arnhem! Really looking forward to showing an item that i have done most the work on!
  12. I was hoping when he said he had a few that it would take a bit of polish and she'll be a goodun...
  13. I think he's planning to get a vehicle for each trailer then open a museum in Oxfordshire ...
  14. Can I come down and watch? Im thinking about purchasing a stolly! Ive had a large blow to the head!
  15. I see you have a few V8s .... proper engines! Carletons putting a V8 in his tilly
  16. Just saw your little hint ian.. I think I need a vehicle before I get a trailer haha!
